Job Description


As a Senior Tech, your primary duty will be to create and implement traffic control plans on job sites. This requires a good understanding of OTM Book 7 in terms of planning and implementation from a simple TL-19 to more complex layouts requiring detours or lane closures on multilane roads. When possible, plans can be made in advance but as work sites may vary you will also be responsible for creating plans in the field for changing work. As a Senior Tech, you will also be expected to assist in the setting up, maintaining, and controlling of traffic - including flagging responsibilities. The current position available will consist of many different types of work locations including a large amount of emergency work. This work can happen at all hours of the day and will require you to be on call on certain days of the week. Most emergency work will require the crew to be on site within 2 hours so flexibility is a must when it comes to scheduling and availability. In addition to the traffic control responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to apply their mechanical expertise to assist with maintaining and repairing trucks and equipment, as well as perform various yard maintenance tasks Duties

  • Create traffic control plans for VSD, SD, and LD work
  • Implement created or provided traffic control plans for VSD, SD, and LD work
  • Maintaining traffic control inventories for payment of services
  • Fill out work orders and other paperwork as required by law, clients, the specific job
  • Organize equipment and resources for jobs
  • Communicate with clients and contractors
  • Supervise Jr Traffic Control Techs / Flaggers
  • Evaluate traffic control zones for efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Driving pickup trucks and flatbeds
  • General maintenance of all equipment and tools
  • Flagging traffic, setting up and maintaining all traffic control aids
  • Loading and unloading of traffic control aids such as plastic/wooden signs, barrels, cones, etc
  • Maintain communication with other flaggers, construction crews, and vehicular traffic
Qualifications/Abilities
  • Prior experience in traffic control is not required; we welcome individuals who are reliable, diligent and committed to excellency
  • We are in search of a candidate with strong mechanical skills and a can-do attitude to assist with the maintenance and repair of trucks and equipment, as well as contribute to various yard maintenance tasks
  • Valid Driver\'s License and possession of a car
  • Substantial standing, walking, bending, lifting
  • Remain in a stationary position for long periods at a time
  • Seeking a candidate with a strong work ethic and a demonstrated track record of punctuality
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Traffic Control Person Certificate (nice to have)
  • Lift at least 50lbs
