Role Overview for Sr. Technical Solutions Engineer

Wondering what your day-to-day could look like as our new Sr. Technical Solutions Engineer?

The Sr. Technical Solutions Engineer will play a key role in supporting the development, evaluation, and integration of utility-scale energy storage systems (ESS) with a focus on Power Conversion System (PCS) and Energy Management System (EMS) Products. This role supports both internal product development and external solution customization, ensuring seamless operation and coordination between the inverter, EMS, Battery Product, and grid interface.

This position requires a systems-level understanding of power electronics and controls, with the ability to navigate both hardware and software engineering contexts. The ideal candidate will contribute to integration testing, internal tool development, solution validation, and cross-functional coordination across multiple products and teams.

This role supports both internal product development and external solution customization, focusing on seamless coordination between the inverter, EMS, battery systems, and grid interface. For internally developed systems, the engineer will work closely with R&D, global engineering to provide direct input on design features, validation strategies, and integration requirements. For externally procured products, the focus will be on leading technical due diligence, ensuring standards compliance, and transferring product knowledge to internal engineering, applications, and execution teams.

Whilst you're working in engineering, your work will directly impact our mission to create a cleaner, brighter future. We're looking for someone who's ready to roll up their sleeves, share their ideas, and make a real difference--every single day.

What You'll Be Doing as a Sr. Technical Solutions Engineer

Team up with talented colleagues and partners to achieve project goals. Champion our standards for quality, safety, and sustainability. Help us keep improving--your ideas are always welcome!

Technical Due Diligence and Product Development Support

Conduct detailed technical due diligence on inverter and EMS products as part of the solutions to ensure performance, safety, compliance, and long-term reliability. Develop and maintain internal tools to support system sizing, product design, project development, and the evaluation of new opportunities, while enabling continuous improvement across existing product lines. For internally developed products: collaborate with R&D and technical teams to support design development, interface definition, validation testing, and platform roadmap alignment. For externally sourced products: lead evaluation of technical specifications, certifications, and performance claims; ensure alignment with internal architecture and support cross-functional knowledge transfer. Support Independent Engineer (IE) reviews and customer-led technical due diligence by preparing documentation packages, addressing compliance concerns, and representing internal design rationale. Monitor and interpret evolving product standards, grid codes, and communication protocols relevant to inverter and EMS solutions -- including UL, IEEE, IEC, and other applicable regional or application-specific standards -- and ensure alignment across internal designs and documentation.

Solution Development & Supply Chain Support

Oversee the development and enhancement of internal engineering tools to support system modeling, product validation, and solution optimization efforts. Lead the technical review of new inverter and EMS products being evaluated for integration into our solutions, including specs, drawings, sizing tools, certifications, and test results. Coordinate cross-functional communication to introduce new products to internal stakeholders, including engineering, project execution, and applications teams. Maintain traceability of vendor/product documentation, internal evaluations, and platform status through internal tools and documentation systems. Work closely with procurement, product management, and R&D teams to support alignment between product design, supplier capabilities, and commercial rollout.

Cross-functional Support and Customization

Participate in integration testing between the Inverter Skid, Battery Enclosure (BMS), and EMS to ensure seamless system operation. Lead internal discussions with engineering, product, and software teams to troubleshoot control strategies and support platform optimization. Provide technical input and coordination for project-specific requirements, custom feature requests, or client-specific configurations. Contribute to the development of internal documentation, reference templates, and knowledge-sharing tools that support consistent product execution across regions. Collaborate closely with global R&D and applications engineering teams, to align on feature roadmaps and deployment readiness. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power systems, controls engineering, or related discipline; preference given to candidates with a postgraduate degree in engineering. Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering, R&D, or project commissioning within power electronics, energy storage, or related industries.

Direct experience in inverter product development, control systems, or energy storage project commissioning is strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of power systems, power electronics, inverters, plant-level controls, and system integration.

Familiarity with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) applications and power electronics-based product design. Familiarity with key standards and certifications related to inverter and EMS products, including UL 1741, UL 1741 SA, UL9540, IEEE 1547, IEEE 2030.5, IEC 62109, IEC 61850, and other applicable codes or grid interconnection requirements. Experience collaborating with international partners, particularly engineering or manufacturing teams across global time zones. Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to the development of internal engineering tools, system models, or automation processes. Strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, with a hands-on approach to product validation and integration. Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus but not required.
