ABOUT THE TEAM

Basis\'s Product team guides the innovation and development of our comprehensive tech platform, Basis. This team blends focus, collaboration, and creativity to fulfill our mission in creating a transformative tool that makes work more streamlined and fulfilling for those who power the ad tech industry.

Customer experience is at the forefront of this team\'s work-and also includes market research, cross-departmental stakeholder collaboration, user testing, communicating feature requests to engineers and designers, monitoring impact of new feature rollouts, measuring returns on product investments, and more. Together, they leverage their diverse industry experience and talent to brainstorm new ideas, iterate on old ones, and create the best possible product for our customers.

WAYS YOU\'LL CONTRIBUTE

The role will have a direct impact on growing the business by helping to evolve data capabilities of our real-time bidding platform. Applicants for this role should be highly knowledgeable about big data, data warehousing, BI applications, and operational monitoring.

OTHER WAYS YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM ARE BY:

  • Defining the "what" (as opposed to the "how") and manage the delivery of the "what"
  • Taking responsibility for devising and executing winning product plans to create great Platform features and inspire others to do it with you!
  • Creating the roadmap for Platform, and support the creation of Application roadmaps by collaborating with the Product Managers of the Applications that are built on the Platform
  • Helping to maintain Platform roadmap and relevance for the internal monitoring, control, and business intelligence systems of the Platform
  • Defining useful feature specifications that support both the Application functionality, as well as the Operational and Technical considerations of the Platform
  • Being hands-on to improve the definition of the feature, perform proof-of-concept testing and/or provide data where necessary to support recommendations
  • Helping identify and execute on technology evolutions to improve Platform capabilities
  • Working with external partners at a technical level to identify new functionality and/or efficiencies, and manage the delivery of those enhancements
  • Collaborating very closely with Engineering, QA and Operations teams
  • Providing clarity to other teams on the roadmap and our plans
  • Communicating features clearly in writing as well as verbally, erring on the side of clarity
  • Collaborating with Engineering on their feedback on feature scoping and development capacity
  • Working with QA continuously to enhance the type and coverage of Platform validation
  • Ensuring new features can be managed and configured by the Operations team to support feature adoption and success with customers
  • Supporting cross-functional efforts on the continuous and varying scaling needs of the Platform that arise from growth in the business
  • Collaborating with stakeholders on product development, and lead the conversation in product trade-offs among stakeholders
  • Being clear on task prioritization, logical sequences, and communicating those with internal stakeholders
  • Taking written positions on important issues: tough design choices, product decisions, etc.
  • Creating monthly product reports, compiling updates/data from all key sources
  • Knowing the Business
  • Gaining a deep understanding of online advertising economics, and Basis\'s business model in particular
  • Understanding the business and how each Platform solution contributes to our success
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Takes full responsibility and measures themselves in terms of the success of the product
  • Experience writing detailed product and technical specifications
  • Capable of working with engineers about technical design tradeoffs including platforms, frameworks, scalability and performance
  • Experience with entire development cycle or projects, and doing so in a fast-paced workplace
  • Resourceful, self-reliant, and does not monopolize the resources of the existing product team
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Relational Databases and SQL
  • Passionate about problem solving and engaging the team to arrive at a solution
  • Understands the value of the features being added to the platform and understands how to measure the success of those feature

  • Has worked as a Technical Product Manager
  • Experience programming in Java or Scala
  • Has worked with Big Data technologies
  • Has hands on experience with Agile Methodology
  • Has hands on experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and/or Restful APIs
  • Has hands on experience with high availability and high concurrency systems

$111,000 - $190,000 a year

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual salary is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process. The total compensation package for this position may also include commission or bonus, company equity, and competitive benefits.
