Overview:
Assist in the design, implementation and operation / maintenance of the site\xe2\x80\x99s server, network, and client infrastructure. This may include: server hardware and software, storage hardware and software, the infrastructure related components of database management, network design, implementation and maintenance, and desktop hardware and software, messaging / email, and directory services (e.g. Active Directory). The position provides local system administration support.
What you will be doing:
IT Infrastructure Policy, Process and Standards \xe2\x80\x93 The position will be responsible for implementing and maintaining solutions consistent with IT infrastructure policy, processes and associated standards. This includes asset management and license compliance from both a hardware and software perspective.
Server \xe2\x80\x93 The position will be responsible for supporting the server environment. This will include security, administration and project and client needs. Technologies like virtualization are supported by this position. Installs new software releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, and resolves software related problems.
Storage \xe2\x80\x93 The position will be responsible for supporting enterprise data storage. This will include maintenance, security, and administration. Experienced with operating systems and Storage Area Networks (SAN) and backup solutions. Performs system backups and recovery.
Database \xe2\x80\x93 The position will be responsible for supporting database infrastructure and administration. This includes maintenance, security, and administration. It does not include application level activities associated with the database.
LAN \xe2\x80\x93 The position will be responsible for the Local Area Networks and associated equipment (e.g. routers and switches) and technologies (local wireless, extranet\xe2\x80\x99s, dmz\xe2\x80\x99s, etc\xe2\x80\xa6) at each of the assigned Teledyne\xe2\x80\x99s facilities. This includes security, administration (configuration and setup), project and client needs.
WAN \xe2\x80\x93 The position will be responsible for the Wide Area Networks and associated equipment (e.g. routers and switches) and technologies (e.g. MPLS remote access, etc.). This will include security, administration (configuration and setup), project and client needs.
Security \xe2\x80\x93 The position will be responsible for working with the IT security team on network security matters to ensure corporate assets and information are protected from external threats.
System Administration Details
Server administration and troubleshooting; monitor and back-up or directly administer selected servers or other network infrastructure as required. This includes managing the Controls WGL enclave.
Linux Server administration and troubleshooting
VMWare administration and troubleshooting
NetApp administration and troubleshooting
Upgrade and update PC and Server software packages
Install hardware and perform hardware refreshes for all sites being supported
Review and record daily backup logs
Maintain organization of the server room
Network administration and troubleshooting; solve advanced network problems at the end-user level; LAN maintenance and networking \xe2\x80\x93 wiring, backup
Network cabling activities, where applicable
Manage permissions groups, OUs, and group policies in Active Directory
Support compliance initiatives and audits
Phone and voicemail system maintenance
Provide IT support for all systems/applications that may be local to the site(s) being supported
Desktop Support Details
Respond to, evaluate, and prioritize all tickets assigned to the site\xe2\x80\x99s deskside support group and resolve issues efficiently and effectively
Research and utilize necessary resources to troubleshoot new and complex problems
Record and track interaction with end-users and related activities in the service desk tool
Create Knowledge Base articles as repetitive issues arise
Provide site IT support encompassing:
PC configuration and troubleshooting \xe2\x80\x93 OS, hardware, and software;
PC maintenance/preventative maintenance;
Printer installation, networking, configuration and troubleshooting;
New user setup on Active Directory network;
Support for client applications;
Troubleshooting phone issues that Help Desk cannot resolve and escalates to local support
Support for peripherals such as monitors, scanners, external hard disks, USB devices, keyboards, mice, etc.
Maintain department loaner equipment and administer checkout process
Review and record daily event logs
Call software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products
Support equipment used in conference rooms and auditorium
Refresh \xe2\x80\x93 The position will help plan and execute the lifecycle refresh plan for assigned Teledyne locations.
General Support \xe2\x80\x93 The position will have support responsibilities specific to the server infrastructure problems level 1 and 2 support cannot address. Support will require troubleshooting malfunctions of hardware and software applications, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services. The position will have support responsibilities specific to the network / infrastructure problems. Support will require troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services. The position will have support responsibilities specific to complex client infrastructure problems. Support will require troubleshooting malfunctions of hardware and software applications, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
In addition, functioning as a project manager will require the temporary supervision of and delegation to employees not directly reporting to this position
The position will also coordinate vendor work at assigned locations.
