The opportunity

The Senior Syndications Specialist is part of the syndications group in our Credit Support national team within the Credit Support department. The role is responsible for servicing and maintaining Canadian Western Bank\xe2\x80\x99s syndicated loan portfolio, and will work collaboratively with the Manager, Syndicate Lending to drive a high level of quality and standards, risk management, and strong data integrity. This individual will contribute to syndicate specific projects to ensure the team continues to provide the standardized, optimized support to achieve our goal to be the best full-service bank for business owners in Canada.

Specific Accountabilities

Customer Support

Responsible for delivering a \xe2\x80\x9cbest in class\xe2\x80\x9d customer experience

Provide direct credit support to syndicated relationship managers and leaders as required

Correspond with branches and corporate groups regarding syndicate lending processes both verbally and in writing to ensure needs are being met

Establish a collaborative and client-centric relationship with the credit support department and branch network while balancing the efficiencies and governance of a standardized structure

Communicate closing requirements with branch lending teams, and lead agents to ensure all closings occur within scheduled target dates

Escalate issues, and participate and contribute to policy or process discussions as required

Accountable for the following processes specific to CWB\xe2\x80\x99s $3B syndicate lending portfolio:

Review and interpret credit approvals to ensure appropriate product creation by the lending team

Create and book loans from WAVE to T24

Prepare, process, and authorize all loan advances, renewals, and loan maintenance transactions

Process commitment, standby, and letter of credit fees

Prepare, sign, and submit all outgoing wires

Review and reconcile all incoming wires

Process all watch and impaired loan transactions as instructed

Balance suspense accounts on a daily basis

Prepare and submit all daily/weekly/monthly reporting

Prepare, send, and maintain all incoming wire detail forms to lead agents

Prepare and send bank confirmations

Review and submit the correction of data issues within the lending system to ensure data integrity across the organization

Complete information requests from lead agents, lenders, and corporate office departments as required

Process Improvement & Efficiencies

Contribute and provide indirect leadership into the design, development, implementation and maintenance of consistent syndicated credit processing and support for the branch network, through a continuous collaborative approach with the business and corporate departments

Execution of work procedures, policies and methods to ensure compliance with Canadian Western Bank\xe2\x80\x99s legal, regulatory business policies and procedures

Contribute and support the progress of continuous improvement of all processes specific to the syndicate lending portfolio

Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of processes which lead to consistent and predictable daily credit support outcomes across the syndicated network

Actively work to ensure standardized syndicated lending processes are followed and data integrity is consistently achieved, monitored and maintained

Due diligence as it relates to lending activities, procedures and documentation for compliance with regulatory bodies

Ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets and quality benchmarks are being met through monitoring and reporting

Support the Manager, Syndicate Lending in the success of syndicate lending impacted projects

Governance and Risk

Contribute to the progress of targeted benefit realization from syndicated credit processing standardization

Process and authorize the daily operations and administrative functions of the $3B syndicated portfolio to ensure compliance with all internal controls

Participate and/or manage projects that primarily impact the syndicated portfolio while adhering to standard project governance practices and operating within approved budget

Contribute to the implementation of appropriate risk management practices within the syndications team

Ensure smooth daily operations and maintenance of the syndication\'s workflow

Strong knowledge of risk assessment, commercial banking, and syndicated credit processes

Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders \xe2\x80\x93managers, and subject matter experts

Customer focused with strong working knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, regulations, documentation, compliance issues, collateral securities and audit requirements

Strong technology aptitude with the ability to lead a geographically diverse team

Demonstrated ability to drive efficiencies and continuous improvement in processes aligned with corporate culture

Creative problem solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to diffuse challenging situations and find common ground

Respectful, proactive, and self-motivated team player

Demonstrated ability to engage in and drive multiple initiatives simultaneously, meet deadlines, and reprioritize as needed

Foundational knowledge and experience to grow from

Education

Diploma in Business Administration including financial accounting and financial statement analysis course

Professional Experience

Minimum 5 years commercial credit and support experience

Experience with syndicated lending administration considered an asset

Strong knowledge of complex loan administration, collateral securities and credit processes

Strong knowledge of the Banking System, Loan Origination Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Forms
