We invite you to be part of our evolution.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking two Sr. Specialist \xe2\x80\x93 Capital Governance - Project Cost Controller & Estimator to join our Project Compliance team in Toronto. This is a full-time position.This role will be responsible for all capital allocation and capital governance for growth, sustaining and \xe2\x80\x98research and design\xe2\x80\x99 (R&D) projects for Base Metals. The Senior specialist will also be managing the process of quarterly multi-annual capital budgeting and capital performance management for Base Metals. Ensuring compliance with the guidelines and defined operational goals and their adherence to the company\'s strategic plan. You will be responsible for redesigning current capital allocation and governance processes and integrate these with Base Metals\xe2\x80\x99 Financial Planning and Analysis group and Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Budget group.Additionally, in this position you will:Define the budgeting and cost control processes and procedures for the entire portfolio (Exploration, FEL1, FEL2, FEL3 and Execution), in line with best market practices and considering the different locational contexts (Brazil, Canada and Indonesia).Implement training programs for the project management team and other stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is aligned with established standards.Support project teams in improving budgeting and cost control practices.Lead technical Planning and CapEx analyzes across the entire portfolio of Base Metals projects, aiming to identify potential gaps and deviation trends in a timely manner to allow effective mitigation actions.Prepare and present reports to senior management and project stakeholders, highlighting good practices, risks and potential deviation trends in relation to the approved baseline for the projects.Evaluate and implement automated systems and tools that facilitate the cost control routine and put the organization in line with best market practices.Lead the interface with various corporate areas (FP&A, Accounting, etc.), ensuring the alignment and optimization of internal processes.Support project risk analyses.Support the improvement of other disciplines in the Project Controls area: Planning, Risk Management and Change ManagementAbout YouEducation:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Professional accounting designation (CMA, CA, CGA or equivalent accounting designation)
Experience:
  • Minimum 11-15 years of relevant experience in budgeting and/or cost control of capital projects, including interfaces with other disciplines, such as: Engineering, Construction, Contract Management, Procurement, etc.
Experience in using ERPs (example: SAP) and budgeting and CapEx management software.Experience in Earned Value Management.Skills:
  • Extensive management experience, extensive knowledge in finance and accounting, demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Must be an experienced decision maker as part of a multi-functional operations management team, superior problem-solving skills and experience working for a large multinational organization.
Preferred Skills:
  • Postgraduate degree in project management and/or specific certifications (PMI-PMP, AACE \xe2\x80\x93 CCP, AACE \xe2\x80\x93 CEP, AACE \xe2\x80\x93 EVP, etc.).
  • Experience in other Project Controls disciplines: Planning, Risk Management and Change Management.
  • Experience in technical audit of projects.
