We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Installation Technician to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various security systems and related technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in computer networking, mechanical knowledge, and field service experience. As a Senior Installation Technician, you will work on-site to implement security solutions that meet our clients' needs while adhering to industry standards.
The work will primarily be in the Greater Toronto area, but for those interested, there may be opportunities to work on special projects elsewhere in Canada. The selected candidate will be passionate about the security industry and will be responsible for:
Install and configure security systems including CCTV, fire alarms, and access control systems.
Conduct system design and layout planning for new installations.
Utilize hand tools and power tools to complete installations efficiently.
Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on existing systems, ensuring optimal functionality.
Work with low voltage cabling and electrical systems in compliance with NEC standards.
Interpret schematics and technical drawings to guide installation processes.
Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs and provide tailored solutions.
Provide training to clients on system operation and maintenance.
Maintain accurate records of installations, service calls, and equipment used.
Stay updated on the latest technologies in security systems and related fields
The technician is responsible for network cabling, fiber optics, and security, including installation and technical support on security components such as:
Video surveillance / IP cameras (e.g., I-PRO, Hanwha, Bosch)
Access control (e.g., Genetec, ICT, Kantech, Bosch, Gallagher)
Conventional alarm technologies, panels, and motion detectors (e.g., Bosch, DSC, and Paradox)
VMS (e.g., Milestone, Genetec, Exacq)
Panduit and Leviton
Performing network and fiber optic cabling, as well as installing security components
Installing alarm systems, access controls, and cameras
Inspecting and maintaining alarm systems, access controls, and cameras
Managing small and medium-sized projects under their supervision, and eventually overseeing major projects as a site superintendent, supported by our project managers
Requirements
Clean criminal record.
Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Ability to climb ladders and lift heavy equipment.
Willing to work overtime (if necessary) and participate in on-call rotations (for service technicians).
Proven experience as a service technician or similar role in the installation of security systems.
Strong knowledge of computer networking principles and practices.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to work with various hand tools and power tools.
Familiarity with IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), sensors, CCTV technology, alarm systems, and telecommunication systems.
Experience in construction environments is a plus.
Understanding of locksmithing principles is beneficial.
Proficient in using remote access software for system diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
