The Opportunity: Reporting to the Manager of Research and Development, the successful candidate will work independently developing procedures for isolation and purification, as well as analytical method development and validation, of target compounds from extracts or raw materials. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES &TASKS
- Isolate and purify the target compounds from the raw materials or extracts according to the established procedure as well as improve on current procedures
- Develop and validate the analytical method for the analysis of target compounds.
- Prepare the separation procedure and analytical method development report and protocol with good GMP practice.
- Perform analytical testing for the target compounds.
- Work as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes in cooperation with other chemists
- Supervise junior chemists to perform the established procedures
- Document and report testing results as per established SOPs
- Operate general laboratory instrument for analytical testing such as HPLC, GC, UV spectrophotometer, dissolution apparatus, also TOC, physical testing devices
- Perform other duties, as assigned, in accordance with job responsibilities and necessary departmental objectives
- Minimum M.Sc. in Chemistry, preferably a Ph. D. in Analytical/Organic Chemistry
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably in an CRO
- Basic understanding of cGMP/GMP, ICH, USP/EP and FDA requirements.
- Knowledge and experience in plant extraction, extraction isolation and purification is an asset.
- Good understanding and work experience with common analytical technologies including HPLC, GC, UV spectroscopy, and titration
- Excellent computer proficiency with MS office programs.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with the English language required.
