You will also focus on cross-selling products to existing clients. You will be responsible for identifying high net worth/ultra high net worth prospects with complex lending needs in targeted markets, developing acquisition strategies, growing relationships, maintaining a sustainable prospect sales pipeline, conducting sales calls, and qualification of opportunities based on customer information and diligence.AccountabilitiesRelationship Management

  • Deepen mutually beneficial relationships between clients across ATB Financial.
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, structuring fees/interest rates and documentation to provide effective and competitive financing proposals to customers, resulting in the closing of transactions.
  • Manage a large portfolio of high net worth families with significantly complex needs to ensure that accounts are operating in a manner which is consistent with ATBxe2x80x99s policies.
  • Act as the key relationship manager and main contact for HNW and complex clients.
  • Partners with Private Banking Advisors, lending expertise and mentorship in the management of a smaller HNW portfolio of medium complexity.
Business Development
  • Contact high net worth clients identified from several sources including referrals, and schedule client meetings. Respond and follow-up on internal opportunities generated and referred from the Retail Branch network, Call Centre, Relationship Managers etc.
  • Analyze existing client files for opportunities to maximize the relationship through new products and services. Required to conduct client visits, prospects and centers of influence regularly, spending significant amount of time enhancing relationships.
  • Develop a marketing plan that actively markets customized Alberta Private Client solutions and sophisticated lending and risk management solutions, including: equity monetization, currency and interest rate risk management, insurance lending and corporate lending opportunities.
  • Build ATB Wealthxe2x80x99s business by proactively sourcing new external HNW clients through networking, proactive marketing, acting upon referrals, and participating in business and community activities.
  • Establish and enhance ATB Wealthxe2x80x99s presence and profile in the market area by participating in business and community activities. Maintain a strong market profile by representing ATB professionally and appropriately externally. Maintain current knowledge of investment products and services.
Credit Risk Management
  • Facilitate solutions for highly complex credit needs of clients; leveraging key partners as required.
  • Analyze and negotiate customer deals to ensure profitability of the relationship.
  • Ensure new credit requests as well as annual reviews are promptly, efficiently and consistently adjudicated.
  • Conduct risk assessment and in depth financial analysis to ensure credit decisions / recommendations are in accordance with sound credit granting principles and are in accordance with ATB lending policy and procedures. Responsible for managing all aspects of a portfolio including review for compliance with law, regulations and risk exposure (e.g. operations, credit).
  • Ensure security documentation is accurately prepared, complete, registered and renewed as required.
Leadership
  • Effectively supervise by providing day to day coaching and direction to their direct reports and to Private Client Associates by:
  • Establishing and monitoring performance objectives and measures, providing timely performance feedback with regards to roles, tasks and expectations.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing on products, services and procedures.
  • Ensure training/learning gaps are addressed and supported.
  • Build relationships with all other lines of business by participating in team meetings, by conducting joint sales calls and by referring to other lines of business in support of our goal to deliver innovative solutions to the HNW clients of Alberta.
Skills, experience & requirementsThe Private Banking market is financially sophisticated, demanding and results oriented. The following skills and knowledge are required to be successful in this role:
  • Extensive knowledge of customized lending, commercial underwriting and proven ability to make sound credit decisions
  • Excellent presentation, risk assessment, analytical, accounting and financial analysis skills
  • Advanced and proven deal structuring, negotiation and sales management skills with strong closing capabilities
  • Advanced marketing, communication, networking, supervisory, interpersonal and business development skills
  • Excellent understanding of tax, estate, financial planning and investment vehicles
  • The incumbent must be able to relate comfortably with affluent and influential clientele in both a business and social content, demonstrating ability to display a high degree of poise and professionalism at all times
  • The incumbent must have a minimum 7- 10 years of private banking experience including demonstrated experience in understanding and delivering on the needs of the affluent and the ultra high net worth market
  • University degree is required
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) courses are required
