Job Summary

Provides engineering expertise in support of day to day field operations in areas encompassing instrumentation/control systems, electrical, process rotating equipment, and material/corrosion analysis. The engineering system field specialist has wide-ranging and specific knowledge of plant operation and process. Serves as technical advisor to management and junior operations engineering staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level engineering expertise in the resolution of plant operational problems. May provide work direction to lower classified engineers.
  • Formulate and implement long-term strategies to improve operations and reduce costs. Defines the long-term technical direction of the assigned operating area.
  • Serve as an advisor to management on technical questions and issues.
  • Responsible for the definition and execution of BI-1900 projects as assigned. Works with Facilities Planning department personnel to develop and define major capital budget items.
  • Provide technical direction in specialized areas to outside design contractors on major capital projects. Provides technical guidance for the development of capital projects.
  • Lead groups of engineers in the commissioning/start-up phase of complex projects and the mothballing/demothballing of existing plants.
  • Ensure that all designs comply with standards, are cost-competitive, viable, and meet operational safety requirements. Review waiver requests for non-compliance design and construction issues and provide technical advice for satisfactory resolution.
  • Develop/provide technical direction and act as a mentor to junior engineers.
  • Participate in standards reviews to assure inclusion of requirements that are of practical benefit to field operation and maintenance in regard to safety and efficiency of the plants. Provides guidance on standards development through technical committee participation. Interprets standards and recommends changes to reduce costs associated with overly stringent requirements.
  • Plan and execute long-range technical and operational studies.
Requirements:
  • This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
  • EDUCATION: B.S. in Engineering. MS or higher qualification is desirable.
  • EXPERIENCE: Fifteen (15) years of relevant operations engineering experience.
  • OTHER: In-depth knowledge of company and international specifications, codes, and standards, with a knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, and design details.
  • Must be clearly recognized as an expert in their operations engineering field.
