Le/la Directeur(trice) principal(e) du developpement logiciel et de l'ingenierie dirige une equipe d'ingenieurs responsables du developpement et de la maintenance des systemes de gestion d'entrepot (WMS) et des systemes de gestion du transport (TMS). Ce role garantit la livraison de produits logiciels de haute qualite alignes sur les objectifs commerciaux, tout en favorisant l'innovation et l'excellence operationnelle.
Responsabilites cles :
Leadership et developpement des equipes
Recruter, encadrer et developper les talents en ingenierie.
Effectuer des entretiens individuels reguliers, des evaluations de performance et des plans de developpement de carriere.
Favoriser une culture de responsabilite, d'appropriation et d'apprentissage continu.
Gestion de projets et livrables
Definir la portee des projets et les delais avec les chefs de produit et les parties prenantes.
Fournir des estimations de ressources pour les demandes de financement.
Assurer la livraison ponctuelle des fonctionnalites et gerer la dette technique.
Supervision technique
Orienter les decisions architecturales et appliquer les normes de qualite du code.
Participer aux discussions de conception et aux revues de code.
Garantir le respect des meilleures pratiques en matiere de securite, de scalabilite et de performance.
Processus et collaboration
Ameliorer les processus d'ingenierie (Agile, strategies de test).
Favoriser la collaboration interfonctionnelle avec les equipes QA, DevOps et Produit.
Diriger la reponse aux incidents et les processus de post-mortem.
Promouvoir les normes de documentation et combler les lacunes de connaissances.
Planification strategique et innovation
Aligner les objectifs d'ingenierie sur les objectifs commerciaux et la strategie a long terme.
Identifier les technologies et tendances emergentes.
Encourager l'experimentation et le prototypage.
Engagement des parties prenantes
Servir de liaison entre l'ingenierie et la direction executive.
Communiquer les progres, les defis et les besoins aux parties prenantes non techniques.
Etablir des relations avec des partenaires et fournisseurs externes.
Gestion des risques et conformite
Identifier et attenuer les risques techniques et operationnels.
Assurer la conformite aux normes de l'industrie et aux politiques internes.
Diriger les efforts en matiere de confidentialite des donnees, d'accessibilite et d'utilisation ethique des technologies.
Exigences minimales :
Generalement 9+ annees d'experience professionnelle et 1+ annee d'experience en supervision/gestion.
Competences essentielles :

  • Experience averee dans la direction de grandes equipes de developpeurs et d'ingenieurs logiciels, de preference dans un contexte de transport ou de logistique.
  • Solide connaissance des methodologies de developpement logiciel, y compris les approches Agile et Waterfall.
  • Expertise dans plusieurs langages de programmation, de preference Java et RPG.
  • Expertise en developpement logiciel back-end et front-end.
  • Experience avec les systemes de gestion de bases de donnees (SGBD) et SQL.
  • Bonne comprehension des techniques de test et de debogage logiciel.
  • Experience dans le developpement et la personnalisation des systemes WMS et TMS.
  • Excellentes competences en communication et en relations interpersonnelles, avec la capacite d'expliquer des concepts techniques complexes a des publics techniques et non techniques.
Formation :
Diplome de baccalaureat en informatique ou dans un domaine connexe; les diplomes avances sont fortement valorises.

Job Summary:
The Sr. Manager of Software Development and Engineering lead a team of engineers responsible for developing and maintaining Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS). This role ensures delivery of high-quality software products aligned with business objectives, while fostering innovation and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
People Leadership & Development
Hire, mentor, and develop engineering talent.
Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning.
Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
Project & Delivery Management
Define project scope and timelines with product managers and stakeholders.
Provide resource estimates for funding requests.
Ensure timely delivery of features and manage technical debt.
Technical Oversight
Guide architectural decisions and enforce code quality standards.
Participate in design discussions and code reviews.
Ensure adherence to security, scalability, and performance best practices.
Process & Collaboration
Improve engineering processes (Agile, testing strategies).
Drive cross-functional collaboration with QA, DevOps, and Product teams.
Lead incident response and postmortem processes.
Promote documentation standards and address knowledge gaps.
Strategic Planning & Innovation
Align engineering goals with business objectives and long-term strategy.
Identify emerging technologies and trends.
Encourage experimentation and prototyping.
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as liaison between engineering and executive leadership.
Communicate progress, challenges, and needs to non-technical stakeholders.
Build relationships with external partners and vendors.
Risk Management & Compliance
Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
Lead efforts in data privacy, accessibility, and ethical technology use.
Minimum requirements:
Typically requires 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of supervisory/management experience.
Critical skills:
  • Proven experience leading large teams of software developers and engineers, preferably in a transportation or logistics context.
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall approaches.
  • Expertise with multiple programming languages, preferably one or more of Java and RPG.
  • Expertise with back-end and front-end software development.
  • Experience with database management systems (DBMS) and SQL.
  • Solid understanding of software testing and debugging techniques.
  • Experience developing and customizing warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degrees are highly valued.
