JOB SUMMARY
This position ensures that the Sanitation programs across the McCain organization (including policies and procedures) are accurately developed with training, implemented, monitored, assessed, and exposed to continuous improvement activities that are consistent with established food regulations and best practices to ensure the production of safe, wholesome foods.
As the SME for the region this position will lead the development and deployment of the N.A. Regional Sanitation Strategy and provide leadership, guidance, and technical support across 16 manufacturing sites. The position provides food safety leadership to support implementation of food safety principles for compliance to Preventative Controls, HACCP, 3rd party audits, and food safety regulations.
This position is part of the North America Quality and Food Safety Organization and reports to the Director of Food Safety and Sanitation.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and implement the regional strategic sanitation program, policies, and processes to ensure practices are compliant to regulatory, customer and global McCain policies.
  • Develop, deploy and/or trend regional metrics and data (i.e. pre-op results, MSS, ATP, food safety audits, customer complaints, etc.) to drive continuous improvement with measurable results.
  • Provide regional governance across 16 sites to ensure product protection through the identification and closure of gaps around sanitary design, sanitary practices, and pest control.
  • Drive change and continuous improvement as it relates to Sanitation culture, principles, practices, and their effective implementation across 16 sites and at the regional level.


Responsibilities
include the following.
  • Function as the subject matter expert (SME) for the N.A Region for all sanitation related activities.
  • Support site investigations and resolution of food safety incidents associated with sanitation. This includes root cause analysis support and activities for preventative measures.
  • Partner with regional Engineering, Maintenance and Operations leads to ensure capital plans include critical food safety improvements related to sanitary design.
  • Effectively communicate and liaise with both plant and cross-functional plant teams to problem solve, troubleshoot, and resolve concerns related to sanitation.
  • Provide technical and scientific expertise to guide and coach the plant towards compliance and situation resolution.
  • Identify, develop, and support execution of sanitation and food safety applications, controls, processes, and best practices (policies and procedures) across all 16 N.A. manufacturing sites in alignment with McCain Global requirements, Industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive regional standardization, governance, and continuous improvement for all sites Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS).
  • Identify and assess new or novel sanitation technologies to deploy across the region.
  • Partner with regional Engineering to ensure sanitary design of new equipment as well as identify opportunities for current equipment and facility opportunities based on food safety impact and risk.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to site sanitarians across the region to effectively execute lean-in -place, clean-out-of-place, manual cleaning, and sanitizing procedures in alignment with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and McCain Global requirements.
  • Lead the chemical assessments of all new chemicals to be used at manufacturing sites in N.A.
  • Partner with regional Safety to ensure alignment between human safety and food safety for all chemical usage.
  • Oversee and partner with the North American regional pest management and chemical vendor to provide governance and maximize technical expertise and drive results.
  • Provide support for relevant regional food safety programs i.e. pathogen environmental monitoring, construction planning, capex planning, etc.
  • Partner with Global Sanitation to develop and/or deploy sanitation policies, program, and/or training
  • Maintain abreast of current and evolving sanitation best practices.
  • Participate with relevant industry, peer, and/or regulatory groups to remain current in sanitation principles to ensure the most relevant information is incorporated into our sanitation practices.


Required qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 10+ year\xe2\x80\x99s experience in plant quality/food safety/sanitation/microbiology
  • Minimum 3 year\xe2\x80\x99s experience evolving and leading multisite sanitation program(s) at a regional level
  • Experience working with maintenance, engineering, quality, and manufacturing.
  • Expert knowledge of Master Sanitation practices
  • Experience successfully addressing sanitation challenges
  • Knowledge of chemical safety
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with diverse sanitation applications (CIP, COP) and sanitary design principles (AFFI, EHEDG, NAMI).

  • Experience in managing external relationships with vendors and consultants.
  • Knowledge of Sanitation Chemistry, Science of Cleaning and Sanitation

Required Travel: estimated 40%
