Job Summary
The Sr. Manager, Pharmacy - Specialized Programs (Oncology), is accountable for all pharmacy services involved in the support of patients in Specialized programs at McKesson, including Oncology, Ophthalmology, and Rare Disease.
The role will lead a team of skilled team members that will employ best practices to provide excellent care to patients. The role will oversee all activities related to the compounding of non-hazardous and hazardous sterile preparations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as NAPRA and Provincial Pharmacy Standards.
The Senior Manager will also provide national consulting and support to all sites and create national SOPs The role has accountability for the overall performance and success of this Pharmacy POD in alignment with the vision and priorities of Biopharma & Provider Solutions.
Specific Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, mentoring, supervision, and oversight for the assigned department and pharmacy functions.
• Verify technical aspects of prescriptions as per the approved guidelines set forth by the Provincial Regulatory body.
• Perform technical duties associated with sterile compounding. Including but not limited to gathering and disinfecting of drugs/supplies, preparation of sterile compound within the controlled work environment, verification/packaging of final product.
• Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by following current standard operating procedures; complying with legal regulations; and monitoring the environment.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of the controlled work environment and the primary engineering controls in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures.
• Prepare and maintain all required reports and records including cleaning logs, equipment logs, and inventory logs. Ensuring all logs are completed and filled accordingly.
• Thoroughly and accurately complete documentation associated with the processing of materials.
• Ensure supplies are assembled, disinfected, and transferred to the controlled work environment appropriately.
• Recognizing scientific literature that is used to determine stability and establish the beyond-use-date (BUD) for each sterile preparation
• Creating national SOPs and training compounding teams nationally.
• Inventory tracking/price monitoring and reviewing pricing of compounding supplies.
• Adherence to all relevant guidelines including the established Standard Operating Procedures and all applicable regulatory requirements.
• Participate in training opportunities to keep up to date with guidelines and standards.
• Working closely with management as well as coordinate with other therapeutic areas within the team as it pertains to the production of compounded sterile preparations.
• Reviewing and ensuring deviation and other quality assurance reports associated with the controlled work environment/personnel are filed accordingly.
• Develop, review, and update manufacturing records (MFRs)/batching records for all compounded sterile preparations
• Develop and oversee environmental monitoring program
• Managing all aspects of Master Formulation and Risk Assessments
• Participate and respond to all audit requirements and complete actions in a timely manner
• Manage and report on financials and inventory related to aseptic compounding
• Use and continuously evaluates scheduling processes and systems that best meet our customer's demand for service, patient safety needs, contractual obligations, operational standards, and the equitable distribution of work amongst staff to cover the Pharmacy operating hours
• Required to be a point of escalation for both patient support programs and provider solutions workflows as needed
• Responsible for providing employees with timely, candid, and constructive feedback; developing employees to their full potential and providing challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.
• Hiring, disciplinary, and termination duties of personnel
• Regular auditing and review of Supervisor and Pharmacists performance
• Implement training programs as needed to ensure the development of personnel.
• Acting as a sterile compounding supervisor as per NAPRA standards and overseeing all activities related to compounding of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous sterile preparations, as designated by the Pharmacy Manager and outlined in NAPRA
• Ongoing communication and contact with staff on goals, objectives, and pharmacy activities.
• Adherence to standards of care governed by the Ontario College of Pharmacists
• Operate and promote behaviors that uphold McKesson i2Care and iLead Principles.
• Ensure company policies and regulatory standards are at the forefront of all activities and decisions.
• Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree an asset.
• A valid license in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
• 3+ years of prior experience in Specialty Pharmacy or related field, 3 + years of experience favored.
• A minimum of 3 years of people leadership and progressive pharmacy management experience.
• Knowledge of NAPRA/USP 797 standards.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical compounding techniques and sterile compounding guidelines associated with compounding of hazardous, non-hazardous, and high-risk sterile preparations.
• Able to travel as required; valid driver's license.

Key Competencies

• Strong ability to assess and interpret financial and business reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) and data manipulation.
• Solid working knowledge of Kroll and its capabilities.
• In?depth understanding of specialty medications and unique patient needs.
• Experience in sterile/aseptic environments with strict adherence to safety protocols, procedures, and quality control standards.
• Ability to interpret and implement Health Canada and Provincial Pharmacy Board regulations.
• Knowledge of facility maintenance requirements for sterile compounding operations.
• Excellent communication skills with internal teams and external stakeholders (clinics, physicians, regulatory bodies, vendors, PSP teams, senior leadership, pharmacy partners, and patients).
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers and clinic staff.
• Skilled in active listening, collaboration, teaching, and patient advocacy.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet business timelines.
• Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, decision-making, and navigating specialty pharmacy challenges.
• Experience in program management within a pharmacy or healthcare environment.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Results?oriented and accountable.
