How will you make an impact? Maintain facility and engineering systems and ensure full compliance to Patheon and regulatory standards. Conducive to increasing the growth of value-added technology and maintaining projects within budget. Provide a high level of health safety and environmental support and compliance through engineering solutions. Provide an environment for all department associates to strive to advance both personal and professional development. Support the engineering needs of all departments. What will you do? Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the Engineering Department.
  • Ensure that department objectives and plans are aligned with Corporate direction
  • Establish and complete annual departmental objectives
  • Provide leadership role for the Engineering department and participates as a member in the Site Leadership Team
  • Effectively manage the annual Engineering departmental budget to ensure the best utilization of resources
  • Direct staffing changes, compensation and performance management action within the Engineering Department
  • Prepare and implement department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP\xe2\x80\x99s) to meet regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and implement department SOPs to meet regulatory requirements
  • Provide project management to facility, production equipment and warehousing capital expenditures.
  • Ensure site HS&E compliance with all local, Canadian & Patheon regulations and guidelines including:
    • the preparation and implementation of site HS&E procedures to meet regulatory and Patheon requirements
    • maintaining site compliance with environmental permit requirements including air, wastewater and waste
  • Ensuring that waste disposal methods are in compliance, not only with regulatory requirements, but also all Patheon requirements
  • Ensure maintenance of the facility, manufacturing and warehousing equipment within the regulatory requirements (PMs & Calibrations) as well ensuring maximum uptime of this equipment.
  • Manage the annual capital expenditure budget, ensuring projects properly justified and implemented effectively.
  • Provide equipment qualification, (DQ, IQ, OQ) for all equipment with GMP impact within production, warehousing and the facility support areas.
  • Provide effective change control management for all qualified equipment to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure cleaning of facility to meet Good Manufacturing Practices and Patheon requirements.
  • Maintain affiliation with professional bodies such as ISPE (International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering), NFPA (National Fire Prevention Association), IAPA (Industrial Accident Prevention Association)
  • Promote a safe working environment, report potential hazards and ensure all direct reports follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
  • Select, develop and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Work with and advise staff on administrative policies and procedures.
How will you get here? Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Professional Engineering designation. Experience: Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in a lead role to support operation, maintenance and projects within a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment. Minimum 5 years experience managing direct reports. Equivalency: Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Exceptional Good Manufacturing Practices knowledge. Demonstrated decision making capabilities. Proven ability to coach and develop staff as well as the technical ability to coordinate departmental business activities. Strong leadership, team building and conflict resolution sills. Demonstrated ability to balance/maintain conflicting goals, responsibilities, and priorities of the organization. Demonstrated success as agent of change. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to motivate and lead. Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Share point).
