Sr. Manager, Corporate Counsel, Commercial

Duration: 12 month fixed-term contract (maternity leave coverage)

Location: Canada remote

Who You Are:

This role will provide legal support primarily for a regional sales and business development teams to ensure that sales and business development contracts for Getty Images\' content and services are finalized quickly and accurately. Responsibilities also include working closely with our content teams, editors and contributing artists on projects related to the acquisition and production of digital content for licensing to a broad customer base, including negotiating content provider agreements with key suppliers. Corporate Counsel is encouraged to develop relationships with key customers and content providers by negotiating and implementing master agreements, providing appropriate legal training, and trouble shooting operational road blocks that make it more difficult for these key customers to work with Getty Images.

This person will serve as a primary legal contact for commercial, marketing, and intellectual property, HR, and litigation issues arising in the region.

Candidates must show accountability to their team and the broader business, consistent good judgment, and have effective communication skills, an ability to prioritize and deliver on timelines, flexibility in style and approach, interpersonal savvy, ability to work cross-functionally and contract negotiating and drafting skills.

Successful candidates must have the ability to maintain composure and a sense of humor in the face of challenges. This role is best-suited for individuals who have the ability to work with minimal direction and are comfortable servicing a remote customer base. \

Your Next Challenge:

• Exercises independent responsibility for partnering with the regional sales, business development and content teams, providing contract drafting, negotiation and maintenance support together with attorneys in other offices. Must be able to support sales and other teams with minimal direction/supervision.
• Independently prepares and handles legal documentation (contracts, legal correspondence, etc.) and other materials related to job duties.
• Establishes and maintains positive relationships with in-house clients and customers.
• Trains in-house clients and present to external customers on salient legal issues affecting Getty Images\' business.
• Communicates (written and oral) with internal and external parties, including clients and outside legal counsel, as vital to perform job duties.
• Serves as regional contact for legal issues that arise in the region.
• Brings solutions to complex legal problems.
• Chip in to management and/or strategic focus of legal team.
• This is 12 month fixed term position only to cover parental leave.

What You\'ll Need

• 5+ years relevant experience (in house and/or prior law firm experience) with licensing, intellectual property and general commercial legal matters.
• Prior knowledge and experience independently negotiating and drafting contracts and agreements, with an excellent attention to detail.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to interact with senior legal and business leaders from key customers.
• Critical analysis skills related to identifying and solving problems in a sales environment.
• Experience working with and training members of a sales team.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to perform complex tasks with minimal direction and/or supervision.
• Ability to work efficiently in an evolving environment.

What You Can Expect (Mental and Physical Demands):

• Frequent communication with others to exchange information.
• Occasionally moving objects up to 20 lbs and frequently moving objects up to 10 lbs.
• Frequent sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing; Time of each will vary.
• Constant operation of computer and frequent usage of other office machinery, including (but not limited to) calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
• Constant assessment of accuracy and thoroughness of the work assignment.
