Our Team:

Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Sr Maintenance Assistant, to join our Copper Cliff South Mine in Sudbury.

The role holder will provide technical expertise for elements such as: electrical/electronic control systems, control software and telecommunications. The successful applicant will facilitate automation implementation for new and existing equipment and its integration into a process operation.

Accountabilities

In this position you will:

  • Assist with the design, maintenance and programming of the following systems: Broadband and Leaky Feed Communications, RF Communications, Fiber Optic, Video Lans, Wi Fi, Modbus, Modbus Plus, NXT Programs, Unity Programming, Ethernet Communications, HART protocol, Smart Overload Motor Controller and Profibus Network, Wonderware and Factory Talk HMI/SCADA Software, Video System (Indigo Vision), AeroScout Tracking System and Tag Manager, and future Ventilation on Demand.
  • Assist with maintenance and design of Instrumentation, Electrical and Hydraulic Control Systems
  • Proven ability to analyze problems and propose and implement solutions.
  • Assist in the development of communication and automation systems, safety and fail-safe analysis, critical spare parts lists, etc.
  • The incumbent will be required to document data and procedures, and complete formal written reports.
  • Maintain and update electrical and instrumentation prints using approved software.
  • Must be able to mentor, coach and train junior colleagues and possess strong communication skills.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work in an underground environment.
About You

Education: Graduate technologist in electrical/electronic discipline (certification in electronics, communications, electrical, instrumentation and/or relevant field is desirable).

Experience: More than three years of related underground experience in similar design and maintenance fields preferred. Previous experience in automation, communications, military, network management, ethernet communications, automotive, will be considered.

Skills
  • Knowledge of modern analytical techniques and instrumentation is required. Applicant must be fully conversant with applicable codes and government regulations.
  • General knowledge of new emerging equipment & Fiber System Design and Maintenance is required. Willingness to learn and adapt to new and changing technologies is an asset.
  • General knowledge with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
