Position Highlights
The Senior Lead, IT Business Solutions Architecture the development and execution of solution architecture deliverables
and strategies of BC Hydro's Technology applications and business solutions. This role ensures that technology solutions
are aligned with BC Hydro's enterprise architecture, business objectives, and operational priorities. The incumbent will
oversee a team of solution architects and participate in strategic projects with business and technology stakeholders to
deliver scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions.
What you'll do
Lead the design and governance of solution architectures across Business Solutions and Services initiatives.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on technology strategy and architecture decisions.
Work with application owners to drive the solution design that ensures implemented solutions are scalable, operationally
efficient, and strategically aligned with organizational objectives.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, project managers, and technical teams to translate business strategies into
actionable technology roadmaps and solution blueprints.
Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and compliance frameworks.
Ensure solution architectures support business outcomes such as improved reliability, reduced cost, or enhanced
customer experience.
Collaborate with business units, IT architects, and one or more vendors to define and deliver integrated solutions.
Oversee the development of Investment Justifications and business cases for major initiatives.
Provide architectural oversight for project delivery, ensuring quality, scalability, and maintainability.
Mentor and develop a high-performing team of solution architects and technical leads, fostering a culture of collaboration,
innovation, and technical excellence.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies where appropriate.
Act as a liaison between enterprise architecture, delivery teams, and business stakeholders.
Oversee the development reporting and monitoring of architecture performance metrics such as solution reuse, technical
debt reduction, or delivery velocity to make informed decisions and recommendations.
What you bring
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering required. A post graduate degree
in a related discipline is an asset.
10+ years of IT architecture or solution design work experience in large enterprise environments with at least 5 years'
experience associated with architecture and the development of technology strategies, visions, roadmaps and
implementation plans.
5 years' management experience in a large-scale technology environment providing leadership and influence at senior
management and executive levels, and leading a team of technical professionals.
Proven experience delivering complex, enterprise-scale solutions in a regulated or utility environment.
Experience with business process modelling tools such as Signavio is considered an asset.
Understanding of SAP integration with non-SAP systems using APIs or middleware. Expertise in one or more functional or
technical areas of SAP ERP platform(e.g. - IS-U, FI, EAM, SD, ABAP) is considered as asset.
Experience with cloud platforms, cybersecurity principles, and data architecture is an asset.
Professional architecture certification such as TOGAF, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or AWS
Certified Solutions Architect - Professional is preferred. Certifications in security architecture (e.g., CISSP) or agile
delivery (e.g., CSM) are considered assets.
Skills
Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture workflow, including deliverables such as: statement of business outcomes, use
cases, valuation frameworks, solution design documents / architecture vision, roadmaps and reference architectures.
Understanding of process and technologies supporting utility customer lifecycle e.g., Rates and regulatory compliance,
Customer relationship management (CRM), Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), Energy management
products and systems will be an asset.
Understanding of integration platforms to support on-premises and cloud integrations such as Mulesoft, TIBCO or SAP
BTP IS.
Understanding of digital customer engagement technologies such as online customer portals, mobile applications, contact
center technologies (IVR, Chat) , analytics platforms such as MS Fabric and enterprise integration applications
such as Lean IX is an asset.
Understanding of one or more planning or operations functions in utility domains such as transmission and distribution,
generation, engineering, grid modernization, construction management, operational technology (OT) solutions
are an asset.
Ability to communicates effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
Ability to build engagement, collaborate and foster relationships.
Ability to be influential, facilitate conversations and reach consensus.
Ability to understands and value different perspectives to drive business solutions.
Demonstrated ability to lead change and influence cross-functional teams in a complex, regulated environment is an
asset.
