The IP Networks Engineering is accountable for the development and evolution of Rogers IP network infrastructure to support Internet, video, voice, and data services. The team works to develop architecturally sound and financially viable IP solutions that meet approved service requirements and alignment with business strategies.

This position, reporting to the Manager of RCMIN (Rogers Management IP Network) Engineering, will work as advanced technical subject matter expert on IP network and security design, engineering, and support activities. This position works with a group of highly qualified professionals engaged in developing technical design and solutions for IP networking and service integration in backbone network and telco cloud environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and produce suitable IP Network Design, Security Design, Provisioning Plan, Firewall Policy Plan and support the defined services and products within the established architecture and security policies
  • Lead the requirements analysis for new/modified services and associated required technologies. Solution may involve new and untested technology, applications, or approaches. Requirements typically limited in scope in terms of overall cost and/or impact to the business.
  • Participate in developing technology options analysis and providing an optimum recommendation that meets the stated requirements in functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, cost and support, within the specified boundaries determined in the Feasibility Assessment and Architecture Analysis documents.
  • Ensure disciplined, methodical and professional design process is executed on a consistent basis.
  • Identify and apply established guidelines to effectively manage technical, product, or business risks.
  • Review technical Specialist\xe2\x80\x99s work for accuracy and adequacy. Provide technical direction to Operation related to design and testing activities.
  • Execute, assign or lead new grad in the execution of the necessary testing requirements to validate the technology platform or systems (laboratory, network verification, operational readiness).
  • Participate and contribute to the development of the 3-5 year architectural roadmap and evolution
  • Identify opportunity and innovative approaches to continuously improve network performance and resiliency
  • Understand and execute project plans to complete tasks relative to technology validation, milestones, and budget.
  • Provide Tier 5 and 6 engineering support to Network Planning and Operations.
  • Participate as lead in several complex engineering projects and a number of smaller, less complex projects.
What you have:
  • Minimum 7+ years of\xe2\x80\x99 experience with a major network service provider and direct involvement in building large-scale ISP networks supporting multi service, multi tenancy
  • Highly proficient and hands on experience in the following networking technologies: OSPF/ISIS, MP-BGP, MPLS, L2VPN (VPLS, EVPN), L3VPN, Multicast, IPv6, IPSec.
  • Direct work experience with Juniper (MX, QFX, SRX), Cisco (ASR, NCS5K/9k, CAT9k) families of networking, switching, and security platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in SDN/NFV virtualization architecture for cloud data center design
  • Experience should also include the foundations for cloud-based infrastructure (Compute, Vmware NSX & Networking), software orchestration & automation
  • Understanding of IP network design on 4G/5G wireless networks and cable DOCSIS 3.0/3.1/4.0 network
  • Understanding of hardware and virtual load balancers in a large data center environment
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux skills and the ability to script in Python, Perl, shell. SDN is a reality in cloud networking. Daily activities will involve applying networking knowledge to SDN and Network Automation tools
  • Effective communicator with fluent verbal and written communication skills and ability to frame technology issues in business terms and to effectively manage and confront conflicts and issues.
  • Highly motivated individual, build and maintain strong relationship with other stakeholder teams to coordinate and collaborate on solutioning and project delivery with sense of urgency
  • A Bachelor\'s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is mandatory
