Our products leverage cutting edge voice technology, language models, natural language understanding, video analytics, and Machine Learning (ML) to enable our customers to focus on what matters while providing faster responses, safer outcomes, and greater transparency. The candidate will join a talented team of scientists and engineers (located in Chicago, Boston, Vancouver and Krakow, Poland) in the Chief Technology Office at Motorola Solutions working on developing mission-critical AI solutions for our public safety and commercial customers. Our mission is to provide meaningful value to MSIxe2x80x99s customers by developing domain-specific applications and services in the areas of Speech & Audio, Machine Translation, Natural Language Understanding and Computer Vision.
Our AI team is focused on all aspects of 1) designing, prototyping and developing solutions (algorithms and architectures for object detection, classification etc.), 2) Machine Learning training and optimization (distributed training and inference acceleration) and 3) data (tools for data acquisition, annotation xe2x80x93 both human and machine-powered, data pipelines and supporting ML infrastructure). We know the mission-critical needs of our customers are unique and different from most consumer technologies that leverage AI today.

Wexe2x80x99re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to join our AI Platforms Team at Motorola Solutions. In this role, youxe2x80x99ll play a key part in building the user-facing components of our cloud-based video and audio redaction platformxe2x80x94an essential tool used in secure evidence processing. Youxe2x80x99ll work on high-impact, technically challenging projects that blend usability, performance, and scale. This is an opportunity to help shape a product that serves real-world users in critical industries, all while collaborating with a distributed, cross-functional team that values clean architecture, thoughtful design, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities

• Architect and implement high-performance, scalable single-page applications (SPAs) for audio/video redaction workflows.
• Optimize the user interface for speed, responsiveness, and seamless user experience.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to translate product requirements into functional UI components.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical design discussions to ensure robust and maintainable code.
• Apply modern software design patterns and engineering best practices.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to performance, concurrency, and user interaction.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor other engineers to elevate code quality across the team.
• Influence product direction and engineering strategy with a user-focused, scalable mindset.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelorxe2x80x99s or Masterxe2x80x99s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in frontend software development.
• Expert-level proficiency with React and TypeScript.
• Strong programming, debugging, and problem-solving skills in JavaScript.
• Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS, responsive design, and accessibility best practices.
• Experience with browser Web APIs such as Canvas, Web Workers, and Audio/Video.
• Proven experience building and maintaining scalable, production-grade web applications.
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux environments and foundational networking concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong team player with a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing complex UI state with Finite State Machines (FSM) or similar patterns.
• Exposure to modern frontend frameworks beyond React (e.g., SolidJS, Svelte).
• Knowledge of distributed systems and building scalable cloud-native services.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Contributions to open-source projects (please include GitHub or portfolio links if available).
• Passion for building resilient, observable, and performant systems that scale globally.
• Comfortable working in a fully remote, distributed team with asynchronous communication.

Target Base Salary Range: $62,600 CAD - $128,300 CAD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
Note: Candidate must reside in the Greater Toronto Area or the Greater Vancouver Area.
