About Us

Cigar Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world\'s highest-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at Cigar Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.

The Role

Cameco is looking for a motivated individual to join our production and technical services team at the world\'s second largest high grade uranium deposit, located at the Cigar Lake operation in northern Saskatchewan. As a member of the production and technical services team, you will be responsible for the safe operation of the ammonia freeze plants at Cigar Lake.

In this role, you will:

  • Start and stop compressors as required, performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting and conducting operator care rounds in various environments
  • Assist in the operation and oversight of the freeze well system at Cigar Lake. You will maintain daily coordination and communication with foreman and various trades personnel.
  • Enter daily reports into a computerized database, as well as work orders and notifications into SAP.
Required:
  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Refrigeration Engineer certification and must be registered with TSASK as a refrigeration engineer or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Minimum of three years\' operating a refrigeration plant, preferably an ammonia based system
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent safety record
  • Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
  • 3rd year Power Engineering or 3rd year or greater Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic
  • SAP experience, SIGGA, Bentley or similar software experience
  • Well versed in Microsoft Suite
  • Experience with ammonia based refrigeration systems
