There is a current Senior Financial Analyst position open with one of Robert Half company partners. As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will manage building long-range operating plans to support business initiatives, developing rolling forecast processes to ensure resources are leveraged with maximum effectiveness, and driving world class strategic and financial planning methods. You will play an integral role in planning processes and improving upon monthly and quarterly reporting as the Senior Financial Analyst. Collaborate with the senior leadership of the company in this career-building Senior Financial Analyst role. As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will be in charge of the coordination of various planning cycles (quarterly forecasts, annual planning, and monthly outlooks) while providing strategic analyses and recommendations. You will give explanations for business reasons for variances and adjusting the outlook models to reflect operational adjustments, as well as, provide variance analysis of bookings, revenues and expenses. This permanent employment opportunity is based in the GTA, Ontario area.

Major responsibilities:

The Senior Financial Analyst provides transactional support for a process within a full accounting cycle and is involved in full accounting cycle for a client contract(s) or business unit(s). At this level, the ideal candidate typically supports multiple portfolios and complex transactions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Review project revenue/gross margins - Prepare the revenue recognition entries (using percentage of completion revenue recognition) with supporting documents/calculations as required.
- Conduct project financial close out and reconciliation.
- Record journal entries, and maintain and reconcile general ledger to the job cost and other sub ledgers.
- Answering internal and external financial inquiries as it relates to the specific client account.
- Perform timely month end close and ensure recording all pertinent transactions including project /labour / various monthly accruals.
- Conduct detailed profitability analysis of variances between planned, forecasted, and actual figures
- Assistance in conducting accurate and complete forecasting of revenue and margins by project
- Provide support for process improvement initiatives
- Provide support for job costing and pricing
- Prepare other ad hoc reports for management as required

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

- 4-6 years of progressive experience in public accounting or industry roles
- CPA Designation required.
- Ability to communicate basic accounting principles to support procedures and to explain financial results within the team and to internal clients.
- Ability to complete and resolve assigned complex account reconciliation which sees the highest transaction volume or deal with multiple portfolios or business units.
- Ability to reconcile and resolve discrepancies between general ledger and sub ledger.
- Can identify and provide recommendations for issues and process improvement opportunities.
- Understanding of more complex accounting issues like revenue recognition.
- Excellent analytical abilities, including advanced Excel skills to assist with financial modeling (pivot tables, vlookup, etc.)
