We are looking for a dedicated Sr. Financial Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Toronto, Ontario. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work across diverse financial operations, including credit card financial management, capital assets accounting, and process improvements. The ideal candidate will bring a strong analytical mindset and expertise in financial reporting, reconciliation, and compliance.
Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, including cash flow and bank accounts, to ensure accuracy.
  • Record and adjust journal entries for month-end processes related to credit card operations.
  • Prepare detailed variance analyses and financial reports for monthly and quarterly reviews.
  • Oversee accounting and reporting for capital assets, intangible assets, and leased assets, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Lead month-end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations for project accounting and asset management.
  • Conduct operational impairment analysis for intangible assets and ensure proper capitalization versus expense allocation for project costs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as IT, Payables, and Project Management to address reporting and payment-related inquiries.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial workflows.
  • Ensure compliance by executing internal controls and escalating any issues in a timely manner.
  • Support special projects and system enhancements to improve financial accounting and reporting processes.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or related roles.
  • Proven expertise in day to accounting tasks within a financial services environment
  • Strong knowledge of credit card financial operations, reconciliations, and general ledger processes.
  • Experience with capital assets accounting and project reporting, including compliance with applicable standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate financial or statistical data.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with various business partners and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and tools to support reporting and reconciliation tasks.
