A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As a Senior Electronic Engineer at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc. you will design and develop high-precision measurement and instrumentation products, focusing on analog and digital electronics. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure well-integrated hardware and software solutions, from initial design to final production and testing. In this role, you will report to the Director of Engineering.
You Will Make an Impact By:Hands-on design and debugging of analog and digital electronics for high precision measurement and instrumentation products.
Expertise in mixed low signal level analog & digital designs including EMI/EMC designs.
Development of analog and digital electronics for the control of new and existing products
Selection of Microcontrollers/FPGAs suitable for new product designs.
Extensive schematic design & PCB layout experience Altium preferred
Development and execution of test plans and design verification testing, creation of jigs.
Expertise in hardware debugging in a lab environment, reliability test protocols.
Familiarity with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, MODBUS, ETHERCAT.
Creation and review of technical documentation including BOMs, board assembly information, circuit block diagrams. Part sourcing and selection.
Familiarity with microcontroller (embedded) development and C, C++, Assembly programming.
Understanding of and familiarity with FPGA circuits using VHDL.
Ensuring that the software and hardware are well-integrated, the device functions as expected and is thoroughly tested
Development and implementation of regression test plans.
Proficient in firmware revision control, SVN, GIT.
Conceptualizing and designing the overall product from initial product design to final production including functionality, size, shape, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Collaboration with mechanical team on creating 3D models and drawings, test jig designs.
Support prototype fabrications to test functionality, durability and other design aspects.
Skills You Bring:Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of experience, ideally with some technical leadership roles. 8+ years experience is an asset.
Strong knowledge of circuit design, PCB layout, and testing methodologies, ideally for high accuracy applications.
Hands on experience with embedded systems and microcontroller programming.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations such as ISO, RoHS, REACH and Safety Certifications such as CSA, UL or similar.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong engineering fundamentals, including DOE, FMEA, 8D, algorithm development and implementation, with hands on testing and optical signal processing experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Coaching and mentoring junior engineers.
Experience in the semiconductor industry a plus.
Professional Engineering designation within Canada (P.Eng.) is desirable.

Operates in a professional office and laboratory/manufacturing environment.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards including handling mechanical and electrical hardware, high voltage, gas, water, and heat.

Compensation:
Salary Pay Range: $80,500 - $145,000 CAD per year. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations.
