Reporting to the VP, Strategic Finance & FP&A, this position is responsible for the leading the delivery of the quarterly Forecasts, annual Business Plan, monthly Outlooks / guidance monitoring and other forward-looking information in support of Potash business unit. In addition, this position will oversee the delivering key leadership insights for our Potash leadership group, including valuation modeling and analysis, and lookback analysis to advance our capital allocation strategy

What you will do:

  • Act as the primary financial advisor to the Executive Vice President, Potash, representing Finance as a member of the Potash leadership team (KLT) and representing the Potash Business Unit as a member of the Finance Leadership Team (FLT)
  • Own the global consolidated Potash budgeting and forecasting processes, including creation of the annual and 5-year plans, as well as monthly forecasts
  • Oversee the setting of the Potash Unit key performance indicators, as well as quarterly performance evaluation and communication
  • Guide the Potash Finance Decision support team on monthly leadership reporting including actual vs. forecast/plan results, controllable cost reporting (SG&A) and executive dashboards
  • Collaborate with Center of Excellence (COE) and Financial Business Services (FBS) finance functions to enhance financial governance with respect to data, integrated business planning, Potash performance/results management reporting
  • Communicate and deliver key messages to executive and senior leadership teams, and other business leaders, representing the Potash Business Unit at key leadership meetings, including, but not limited to: Operations Committee, ELT and Investor Relations activities
  • Oversee forecasting, planning and strategic analysis for the Potash Business Unit
  • Guidance & oversight of financial analysis and insights that inform strategic decisions and value optimization activities within the Potash Business Unit and Nutrien
  • Oversee a team of professionals managing financial oversight, management, reporting and analysis
  • Provide support and feedback to team members, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new training or skill development
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders including Corporate Finance Decision Support / Planning teams, Commercial, Corporate Development, Investor Relations Tax, Treasury, Corporate Accounting, External Reporting and IT
  • Provide dynamic solutions for ad-hoc analysis requests requiring creativity, problem-solving and exceptional analytical skills, providing oversight and collaborating with key business partners
  • Provide data-driven resolution support to inform strategic planning and investment decisions
  • Cultivate finance and business outcomes through efficient allocations of capital with data driven insights
  • Perform look-back review to assess financial returns of capital investments relative to approved business cases specific to the Potash Business Unit.
What you will bring:
  • Business related University Degree, preferably with a specialization in a Finance or Accounting
  • Professional accounting or finance designation
  • 15+ years of related experience in a financial planning and analytics roles including managerial responsibilities, leading a team of finance professionals
  • Experience using business analytics to problem solve data-driven questions
  • Solid understanding of Nutrien\'s business drivers and operating activities considered an asset
  • Experience in forecast modeling through systems and Excel
  • Experience in identifying opportunities for improving operational and financial performance while
  • The ability to interface with various levels of management in a multi-task, deadline orientated, team environment
  • Strong leadership, analytical, written, and verbal communication and organizational skills ensuring quality and integrity of the financial functions of the operations
  • Strong Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, proficiency in Excel a must
  • Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize several concurrent projects
  • Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills that facilitate a positive and effective team environment
  • Proven ability to rapidly respond to challenges that impact team performance
