What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Be Doing

CIBC is developing a Business Architecture practice, to further contribute to the mandate of the Architecture, Data & Analytics group (ADA). ADA is a business strategy driven function that coordinates data management, analytics, governance and architecture activities across all lines of business. In this role you will have the accountability to initiate and facilitate discussions and decisions with business leaders to identify strategic business capabilities needed to enable the client journeys that support their strategic business goals; identify where there are efficiency and capability re-use opportunities within and across business portfolios. You will demonstrate impacts and opportunities for business and technology leaders to facilitate critical business decisions, while capturing and sharing key views of the business unit in the context of the overall enterprise as well as Identify and lead efforts to advance and maintain the vision and direction of the business architecture practice. The Sr. Director, Business Architecture also oversees the creation and governance of business architecture artifacts, as well as common standards and methods for developing and incorporating business architecture in the enterprise So that we are enabling more consistency, re-use, and value for clients and the enterprise.

How You\xe2\x80\x99ll Succeed


  • Business Architecture Leadership: Lead practice development and business architecture engagements focusing on delivering value and outcomes enabled by architectural tools such as customer journeys, capability modeling, value streams definition, and process architecture that considers an end to end perspective. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the core business and processes. Gain ability to assess health and maturity of business capabilities across the enterprise to support strategic decisions and value for clients and the enterprise

  • Strategy and Execution: Help translate strategy into actionable initiatives. Support business unit planning processes and facilitate the sequencing and prioritizing of initiatives. Support the creation of meaningful metrics to measure value delivered through specific initiatives that also act to algin cross-functional teams.

  • Stakeholder/Relationship Management: Develop and manage internal relationships with CIBC\xe2\x80\x99s lines of business, technology and infrastructure groups, as necessary, to advise and deliver on projects and initiatives. Create transparency across groups to support better identification of shared capabilities and efficiency or learning opportunities. Be seen as a partner to accelerate the effective definition and delivery of critical business capabilities.

  • Governance: Ensure the Business Architecture practice defines and maintains pragmatic, yet effective levels of governance activities at the enterprise level.


Who You Are

  • You are an experienced professional. You have 10+ years of relevant financial industry experience. You have comprehensive working knowledge of a number of line of businesses acquired through product management and/or project delivery roles.

  • You have a degree in business, information technology (IT), computer science, engineering or finance, or an equal combination of education in a related field and industry experience.

  • You are a critical thinker and have the ability to synthesize a variety of information into cohesive business modeling and strategic plans.

  • You are passionate about business architecture and the value it brings to organizations, through the pursuit of additional training, certifications or the development of your practice.

  • You have extensive experience leading and influencing teams and stakeholders to deliver effective change.

  • You\'re driven to succeed. You possess mature business judgement and are proactive, well-organized and results oriented. You are self-starter with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and to work independently and are highly motivated, perseverant, and resilient in pursuing objectives despite challenges.

  • You have strong communication skills. You have presentation skills sufficient to clearly articulate complex conceptual information and ideas to senior executives. You have strong interpersonal and team skills and are comfortable working in flexible and collaborative environment.
