Job Description

We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto office. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.


About the role:





This individual will play a key role in designing, implementing, evaluating and administering compensation programs across the organization, including sales incentive plans, short- and long-term incentives, salary structures, job evaluations, compensation surveys and market benchmarking. This role does not have direct reports but requires strong cross-functional collaboration and influence across business lines.


About the day-to-day:




Design and manage compensation programs that align with business objectives, drive performance, and support talent strategies. Partner with business leaders, People and Culture teams, and Finance to develop, refine and administer salary plans, incentive and equity programs that are competitive, compliant, and effective. Analyze data and prepare reports to support decision-making and Board presentations to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Conduct market benchmarking and compensation analysis to ensure programs remain competitive and equitable. Provide subject matter expertise on sales incentive structures, including quota setting, performance metrics, and payout modeling and guidance on job evaluations, salary recommendations, and incentive programs. Support the annual compensation cycle, systems set up, including salary planning, incentive payouts, compensation reviews, communication, and training. Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSFI.) Prepare and present compensation recommendations and insights to senior leadership. Independently leads or support assigned programs and special projects related to compensation strategy, analytics, and process improvement. Develop and oversee processes which support strong governance.

About the qualifications:




5+ years of progressive experience in compensation, with a depth in sales compensation in a complex, matrixed environment. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and problem-solving skills with advanced proficiency in Excel. Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, including presenting complex concepts to the senior executive team. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and lead through others. Knowledge of Canadian compensation regulations, legislation and practices. Experience in the financial services or banking sector is preferred. Experience with HRIS and compensation tools (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or similar) is preferred, Experience across Total Rewards (e.g. benefits, retirement programs) is an asset.

About the work environment:





Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times.
