Senior Associate, Syndicate Lending & Corporate Banking

1 FULL-TIME PERMANENT POSITION





The Opportunity


The Senior Associate, Syndicate Lending & Corporate Banking is responsible for providing administrative support to the Lending and Banking Services department, including administration and funding of Alberta Central's loan portfolio, client settlement accounts, as well as assisting in preparation of loan reporting to the Director, Syndicate Lending & Corporate Banking Services. This position has a sound understanding of banking operations and commercial mortgage lending and is a resource and support to both internal and external stakeholders.


What You'll Be Doing

Maintain and update all procedures and forms required to open and properly document the operation of Canadian and U.S. current accounts and deposit accounts for external and internal customers, and staff Master Cards. Investigate and correct any discrepancies related to clearing and settlement activity in current accounts in accordance with Canadian Payment Association rules and regulations. Perform account reconciliation processes on internal accounts, including those used for AFT, Wires, and Non-postable items. Perform daily settlement activity for designated member accounts as needed. Provide daily real time posting of wires transaction entries as necessary Manage account administration fees and charges and perform account cost analysis on specific accounts as identified by management to ensure the company is achieving cost recovery. Administer the credit union and cooperative loan portfolios and the syndicated loan portfolio. Prepare & input loan payments and syndicate partner payments while maintaining accurate accounting and reporting records. Provide additional back-up to the Associate, Syndicate Lending & Corporate Banking when required. This includes daily settlements, posting of banking transactions, CEBA payments, and Mastercard Payment Cards. Track and collect Banking & Lending administration fees which include automated funds transfer fees, statement fees, PPR & Land Title searches and fees, Equifax searches and fees, corporate searches and fees, PPJV fees, and CMHC claim settlements fees. Review, and verify loan documentation and funding information from various stakeholders and third parties, to ensure all funding requirements are met in time for the established funding date Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members. Prepare, track and administer letters of credit. Assist in the preparation of annual reviews of all borrowing relationships & members under the syndicated commercial lending program. Maintain a working knowledge of banking floor, consumer lending, and consumer mortgage operations, regulatory developments, and best practices, and support related credit union inquiries and requests for support including the forms and manuals program. Support risk management and effective governance by maintaining compliance with policies, procedures and controls both corporately and within area of responsibility, ensuring they are operating effectively and escalating discrepancies to management. Participate in internal and external audit processes. All other duties as assigned.

How You'll Succeed


Must Have

Related university degree and a minimum of 8 years related experience; or a combination of formal education and experience. Understanding of commercial mortgages, funding procedures and legal mortgage terms Previous commercial financial services industry experience Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to set priorities and effectively manage multiple tasks Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment Strong analytical skills with proven quantitative problem-solving and decision-making skills Possess good communication and organizational skills Proficiency Level of Microsoft Office Suite: Word - intermediate, Excel - intermediate /advanced, PowerPoint - basic and Outlook - intermediate Must be bondable
