Job Description

There\'s a career-building opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant to join an innovative Agriculture company in a permanent role in the Burlington, Ontario area. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for producing financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. This position offers you great long-term potential and a strong compensation and benefits package. This Senior Accountant role is located in Burlington, Ontario. This role is hybrid with 3 days per week in office.

Key responsibilities

- Participate in various department-wide initiatives

- Prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting

- Aid in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

- Adherence to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

- Successfully collaborate with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, controls and provide support on special requests when necessary

- Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP

- Manage Ad-hoc projects as necessary

- Provide analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)

- Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations

- Strong attention to detail

- BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials (or in progress) are REQUIRED

- Ability to work well with operational leaders and colleagues

- 3+ years of overall general accounting experience

- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Skilled with ERP systems

- Able to manage time well

- Foundational knowledge in reconciliations

- Experience with budget forecasting

- Month end closings experience desired

- Financial reporting experience required

- Deep understanding of journal entries

- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

- Ability to meet deadlines
