We are looking for an experienced, dedicated, career focused
SQF Practitioner
, with a passion for the bakery food industry, to support our growing business. Reporting directly to our Quality Assurance Manager, the SQF will take responsibility ownership for leading the development and implementation of the Food Safety Fundamentals outlined in the Company's food safety plan; oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF system.
This important position will work closely with the Company's internal stakeholders and the facilities' cross-functional operation teams, not limited to - Production, Quality Assurance, R & D, Warehouse & Logistics personnel.
Job Essentials
Critically monitor the product and ingredients produced from start-to-finish process.
Responsible for regulatory compliance affairs duties based on knowledge of Canadian and U.S. labelling and regulatory specifications.
Responsible for monitoring and following up on all food safety quality issues.
Maintaining control and monitoring of hold product until final disposition clearance.
Assists in implementing and maintaining plant manufacturing food safety quality standards in accordance to HACCP.
Manages the Company's self-inspection programs to maintain facility compliance.
Ensures all work performed is in accordance to GMP, HACCP, SQF,CFIA preventative controls to established regulation protocols.
Conducts internal QA audits, compliant with Company's policies, practices, procedures.
Provides critical support of food safety audit-ready state at all times.
Oversees the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the HACCP System and SQF program.
Leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan, Food Quality Plan, and SQF System, Food Sanitation Plan, inclusive of scheduling meetings with key stakeholders for periodic review.
Verifies, validates the effectiveness of the HACCP program, Food Safety Plan, Food Quality Plan and SQF System.
Investigates HACCP and SQF non-compliances and deviation incidents originating product materials, packaging, and labelling suppliers through root cause analysis. Executes application of corrective and preventative remedial action.
Monitor and test the Company's Sanitation Program throughout the facility.
Reviews and maintains HACCP documentation and plans to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Maintains quality specifications, product formulas and relevant documentation.
Manages updating supplier and ingredient registers to Allergen management system protocols.
Writes and maintains standard operating procedures, (SOPs).
Communicates with managers, supervisors, and key stakeholders quality updates/concerns.
Assists QA Manager with internal SQF auditing program.
Responsible for training personnel and developing training materials to support Quality related training, (i.e. GMPs, Food Safety, Lot tracking, HACCP, Allergen controls, etc.).

Post-secondary - Food Science degree and/or Food Safety certification program.
Experienced in basic food chemistry, microbiology, allergen controls, auditing, SQF, and HACCP principles
Minimum experienced three (3) years of direct Quality Assurance bakery work experience.
You are an analytical, detail driven, results-oriented, critical thinker.
Proficient knowledge and skill of Microsoft Office applications.
Strong communication skills - verbal and written.
You hold a proven track record of your strong work ethic, demonstrating exceptional capabilities to prioritize, manage competing deadlines, a time resource effectively.
You thrive in a fast-pace, high-volume (food) production environment, while consistently delivering innovative, creative problem-solving or continuous improvement solutions.
