Role Summary:
Seeking NEW or continuing APPRENTICES + JOURNEYPERSONS. Travel within Calgary and the surrounding areas is required. Mileage may be considered if driving a personal vehicle between locations. Operations run 24/7 (Journeypersons with on-call rotations & fleet vehicle) with varied start times for Apprentices (typically 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday) and occasional weekend or overtime work opportunities.

Knowledge & Responsibilities required:
DAILY OPERATIONS APPRENTICES:
Support installations, service, maintenance, and repairs
under the direction of a journeyperson, while learning proper industry practices.
Assist with sprinkler system service and repairs
, gaining hands-on problem-solving skills.
Participate in inspections
with integrity and professionalism, while observing and learning procedures.
Help with storage and maintenance of materials and equipment
, ensuring everything is organized and site-ready.
Assist in inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs
of equipment and systems in line with NFPA guidelines -- including water-based fire protection systems, wet and anti-freeze sprinkler systems, dry fire sprinkler systems, backflow preventers, and related components (gauges, standpipes, hoses, and valves).
Locate and prepare equipment
needed for facility testing.
Take part in preventative maintenance tasks
(weekly, monthly, annual, and multi-year intervals), developing knowledge of system upkeep.
DAILY OPERATIONS JOURNEYPERSON:
Execute all operations (installations, service, maintenance, repairs) in strict adherence to industry regulations
Service and repair sprinkler systems using advanced problem-solving skills
Conduct inspections with integrity and professionalism
Ensure proper storage and maintenance of materials and equipment
Verify shipments of materials (project personnel only)
Main fleet vehicles (if applicable)
Conducting inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing varied equipment and systems according to NFPA guidelines, including water-based fire protection systems, wet and anti-freeze sprinkler systems electrical alarm sensors, dry fire sprinkler systems, backflow preventers and special hazard systems and testing of gauges, standpipes, hoses, and valves.
Locating various equipment to conduct facility testing.
Perform all aspects of weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, 3-year, and 5-year preventative maintenance activities.
SAFETY COMPLIANCE
& DOCUMENTATION
Uphold health and safety policies, and assist with proper documentation
Assist with comprehensive inspection/repair/service reports
Maintain confidentiality and building security, and tenant privacy
Perform safety inspections (pre-use, vehicle, ladder, etc.)
Work S-A-F-E-L-Y
New hires undergo a competency evaluation after a 3-month probation.
