Position Responsibilities
The School of Trades and Technology is seeking a Sprinkler System Installer (Fire Protection) Instructor for eight (8) weeks during the spring term (May 4th 2026), to teach and develop curriculum in the Alberta
Sprinkler System Installer
Apprenticeship program.
Job duties will include:
Maintain, develop and instruct the theory and shop components of the Alberta Apprenticeship program for Sprinkler System Installer
Deliver program content in face-to-face and via virtual format,
Participate in school, department, and program committees.
Program promotion and student recruitment.

Required Qualifications
Alberta Journeyperson Certificate in Sprinkler System Installer
Inter-provincial Red Seal Certificate
Minimum 5 years post-Journeyperson work experience
Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Effective time management and organizational skills
Aptitude for mentoring and coaching others
Comfortable with public speaking, and able to convey course subjects to diverse students and learning styles
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:Experience teaching post-secondary learners through both in-person and online formats
Journeyperson certification in one or more additional related trades

Red Deer Polytechnic offers a comprehensive benefits package including Alberta Blue Cross extended health and dental plans, and health spending account. There is a tuition waiver for RDP credit courses for you as well as your immediate family members, as well as opportunities for professional development funding. The Local Authorities Pension Plan is also offered as an option to those who have served a waiting period. There is paid time off due to Institution closures between Christmas and New Year general holidays.
This position also offers an additional 8% of the regular salary in lieu of vacation.
