Recreation and Culture Services builds vibrant, healthy, active and connected communities by providing facilities and programs that give all Barrie residents an opportunity to participate in recreational activities. Key responsibilities include identifying community recreation needs and interests, developing and delivering recreation opportunities which meet these needs and interests, maintaining and operating recreational and cultural facilities to provide a setting for these activities, and managing the provision of space to external community providers and groups.
Under the general guidance and direction of the Manager of Environmental Operations, the Spring Into Clean Coordinator (PT) position is responsible for organizing the City of Barrie's annual Spring Into Clean Event. Specifically, this position is involved in all aspects of planning and coordination for the event. Additionally, this position supports sponsorship development, marketing and promotional initiatives and acts as a point of contact for media, schools and the general public regarding event related matters. Overall, this position plays an integral role in keeping the City clean and promoting environmental awareness and social responsibility amongst residents.

Education
(degree/diploma/certifications) Two (2) year College Diploma in Event Planning, Public Relations, Recreation and Leisure or related discipline
Completion of Standard First Aid and CPR C Certifications Upon Hire
Experience
Six (6) months of experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities
Demonstrated experience planning a large scale event
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
Demonstrated ability to:
+ speak with media representatives
+ work independently with minimal supervision Intermediate verbal and written communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
Basic teamwork, time management, problem solving and research skills
Intermediate computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
Conditions of Employment
Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's Licence in good standing

The normal hours of work are up to and including 24 hours per week with a varying schedule to support business demand.
Wage:
This is a casual part-time non-union position with the following 2025 pay range: Hourly Pay Rate: $22.55 to $30.68
