Position Summary



The Sports Program Coordinator is responsible for establishing, developing, and overseeing society-wide competitive sports programs across Ummah Society, including the MMA school, community center, and affiliated community sports clubs. This role is focused exclusively on organized and competitive sports, including the creation of structured sports clubs, team development, training programs, and competitive pathways that enable participants to represent Ummah Society in leagues and tournaments. The position ensures that all sports programs align with Ummah Society's Islamic values, safeguarding policies, and cultural standards, while promoting athletic excellence, discipline, teamwork, and leadership across all age groups.

Key Responsibilities



1. Society-Wide Sports Program Development

Design and implement a centralized sports framework for Ummah Society. Establish sports clubs under Ummah Society for different disciplines and age groups. Develop long-term sports development plans for kids, youth, adults, sisters, and brothers. Ensure consistency in coaching standards, training methods, and policies across all locations.
2. Competitive Sports Clubs & Team Formation

Establish and manage competitive sports clubs in key disciplines, including: Swimming, Soccer, Table Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Fitness & Athletic Training (sport-performance focused) Create structured training schedules, team selections, and development pathways. Form competitive teams to participate in leagues and tournaments on behalf of Ummah Society. Support athletes in progressing from beginner to competitive level.
3. Training, Coaching & Athlete Development

Recruit, onboard, and supervise qualified coaches and instructors for each sport. Ensure coaches follow Ummah Society's coaching standards, safeguarding policies, and Islamic guidelines. Support athlete development through structured training, skill progression, and performance evaluation. Separate programming appropriately for sisters, brothers, youth, and adults, ensuring dignity and cultural sensitivity.
4. Leagues, Competitions & Representation

Register Ummah Society teams in leagues and tournaments. Coordinate team participation, eligibility, and compliance with competition rules. Ensure teams represent Ummah Society professionally and in alignment with its values. Maintain records of team performance, participation, and progression.
5. Facilities & Partnerships (Sports-Focused)

Coordinate access to sports facilities required for training and competition. Establish partnerships with sports organizations, leagues, and governing bodies. Ensure all facilities and partners comply with Ummah Society's policies and standards.
6. Administration, Compliance & Risk Management

Manage athlete registrations, waivers, attendance, and eligibility records. Oversee sports program budgets in coordination with finance. Ensure compliance with Safe Sport principles, child protection policies, and provincial regulations. Conduct risk assessments and incident reporting related to sports activities only.

Education Requirements



Diploma or Bachelor's degree in: Sports Management or a related field. Equivalent education and proven experience in competitive sports program development may be considered.

Certification & Training Requirements



Standard First Aid & CPR/AED (Level C or equivalent) (Required) Vulnerable Sector Check / Criminal Record Check ( Required) WHMIS or basic workplace safety training ( Required) Event or Program Management Certification (Preferred / Asset) Risk Management or Occupational Health & Safety training (Preferred / Asset)

Working Conditions
