Help Wanted: Technician Apprentice
QBM Group of Companies - Atlantic Canada

QBM in Elmsdale NS. is seeking a Technician Apprentice to join our industrial services team. This is an entry-level position for someone looking to build a long-term career in the industrial trades, with opportunities to work across Atlantic Canada, throughout North America, and on select international projects.

Our Nova Scotia branch services all of the Maritimes and regularly supports other QBM branches, offering exposure to major industrial sites, shutdowns, and unique work environments.

What You'll Do

Assist senior technicians with conveyor belt installations, repairs, and maintenance Learn hot vulcanized splicing, rubber fabrication, and industrial service procedures Perform hands-on mechanical work using hand and power tools Follow job safety analyses (JSAs), lock-out/tag-out procedures, and site safety rules Support job setup, teardown, material handling, and site cleanup Travel to job sites across Atlantic Canada and support other QBM branches as required

Who We're Looking For

Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Reliable, punctual, and accountable Comfortable working in industrial environments, outdoors, and at heights Physically capable of manual work (lifting, climbing, standing for extended periods) Able to work safely as part of a team Mechanical aptitude or previous trade experience is an asset, but not required

Prerequisites

Valid driver's license Ability to obtain a passport CSA-approved steel-toe work boots Willingness to travel, including out-of-province and occasional international work Ability to pass site safety orientations and required training
Compensation & Advancement

Starting wage: $25 per hour

Wages may be discussed for experienced splice technicians or candidates with relevant industrial experience.

This role follows a structured promotion path with wage increases tied to skill development, training, and certification. The position is well suited for individuals who enjoy variety, hands-on work, and the opportunity to travel while building a career with a growing North American company.
