Job Description

Arbutus Speech Therapy is seeking multiple candidates experienced in (or with a strong interest in receiving training) in the area of accent modification and professional communication.

About The Position



Arbutus Speech Therapy is a boutique practice offering private speech-language pathology services for adults seeking accent modification and other professional communication services via telehealth.

These services include:

Accent modification to increase intelligibility Identification of barriers to intelligibility (rate of speech, mumbling, use of filler words, word-finding difficulties, difficulty putting thoughts into words, breathing techniques, and more Voice projection Vocal hygiene Stuttering Adult articulation errors
Arbutus Speech Therapists in this role can expect to work with a variety of clients ranging from individuals wanting to improve their communication for social purposes to clients with high-pressure, executive jobs in the medical field, legal field, as well as local actors wanting to address their communication shortfalls in a professional environment.

You will be provided training for how to structure your sessions, however each Arbutus Speech Therapist will bring their own strengths, background, and approach to their sessions. SLPs with backgrounds in acting, singing, travel, business, counseling, or other professional settings are well suited to this position.

About You



You are interested in learning more about this area of SLP and have part-time to full-time availability in your week to dedicate to accepting

virtual

clients. Some Arbutus clients have a preference for after-work session times, making 4:00pm to 7:45pm availability an asset. However, many clients have flexible availability and work from home and can accommodate daytime sessions.

The ideal candidate for this position has 1-5 full days available per week to see 4-7 clients per day virtually and good availability over the period of September-December.

Musts:



A Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology Active Registration with CHCPBC Knowledge or keen interest in working with adults Comfortable working with high-level professionals

Nice-To-Haves



Training in an Accent Modification course Experience working on professional communication (Toastmasters, etc.) Bilingual or experience with learning language for relatability
