You'll gain experience in collaborative, community-based practice while working closely with a registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).

Your Role
As a Speech-Language Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a registered SLP to help children build their speech, language, and literacy skills. Your work will include:
Implementing therapy plans in schools with students (1:1 or small groups)
Preparing and organizing materials and resources (digital and print)
Collaborating with the SLP to ensure therapy goals are appropriate and well-targeted
Bringing creativity and enthusiasm to sessions to keep students engaged
Tracking and documenting student progress through accurate data collection
Staying within the scope of practice of an SLA and knowing when to defer to the SLP
Participating in professional learning opportunities to grow your skills

Qualifications & Skills
Graduate of a Speech-Language Assistant program (or equivalent education/experience)
Experience working with preschool and/or school-aged children
Knowledge of speech-language development and/or linguistics (an asset)
Driver's licence and reliable vehicle
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
