Your Opportunity:Come join the dynamic Calgary Rural Allied Health teams! This temporary opportunity is a split position between Adults and Pediatrics, working under the general supervision of both the Calgary Rural Pediatric and Adult Allied Health Managers. The Speech Language Pathologist II, knowledgeable in both pediatric rehabilitation (the bulk of the FTE) and adult (sub) acute care services, performs professional duties related to identifying functional needs, direct intervention, consultation and capacity building, education, management of adult dysphagia and knowledgeable of speech-language therapy and techniques suitable for the pediatric population in a rural setting. The incumbent will be required to travel to other rural communities in the Calgary Zone. The SLP II will work closely with the existing care teams to provide integrated rehabilitation services across the continuum of health services. In addition to performing your clinical roles you will be expected to foster effective relationships within the site and across our rehabilitation teams, and at times participate in quality improvement and program development initiatives within the Rural Calgary zone. Travel to Calgary Rural Facilities south of the city is required.Description:As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Required Qualifications:Master\'s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated knowledge of speech-language therapy and techniques suitable for the pediatric population and experience with acute adult dysphagia population. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of AAC. Self-directed and independent decision-making, sound clinical judgment and critical thinking skills. BLS-C Healthcare provider. Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as part of an interdisciplinary team environment. Recent experience in an acute care (within the last 2 years) community setting. Create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
