Are you an experienced Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) looking to apply your dysphagia-specific clinical skills in an innovative cancer care setting? The Rehabilitation Oncology Team is part of the Supportive Care South Team of CCA. The team\'s occupational, physiotherapists, physiatrists and SLPs collaborate with each other and with other health care professionals to develop and offer services and education to staff, patients and caregivers. The team is working on building capacity locally to deliver effective, evidence-informed patient care and programming. The team located at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre needs an experienced SLP to help us build our relief and casual pool. Under general supervision of the Supportive Care Services Manager, this SLP position is responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients referred to the service as well as the development, implementation, and evaluation of treatment programs according to professional practice standards. The SLP also participates in program development and evaluation, student supervision and staff education. Casual SLPs on the team must have availability to work Monday through Friday from 0800-1700. The caseload and working hours for all positions within the program may subject change based on operational needs. This casual position is based out of Tom Baker Cancer Centre and may move to the new Arthur Child Centre.

Description:

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Required Qualifications:

Master\'s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). Additional Required Qualifications:

Active Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS certification. Five (5) years clinical experience in an adult inpatient or outpatient settings. Minimum three (3) years within the last four (4) years working with patients experiencing dysphagia in inpatient or outpatient settings. Experience in the past twelve (12) months with referral triage and caseload management. Ability to independently perform videofluoroscopic swallow studies (VFSS) (e.g. modified barium swallow) and/ or fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES). Effective self-management and time management skills paired with initiative. Demonstrated ability to work within a patient-centered, interdisciplinary team of health care professionals. Experience with clinical software including Nuance PS360 and electronic medical record systems in AHS (Connect Care). Intermediate computer skills including use of Microsoft Office. Within the last 12 months, use of virtual technology to deliver patient care. MBSImP training. Preferred Qualifications:

Two years\' in urban adult oncology and/ or palliative experience including Head and Neck cancers. Within the last 12 months, professional development related to oncology and/ or palliative care. Experience with program evaluation and committee work. Knowledge of Calgary and South Zone AHS services. AADL program knowledge.
