Requirements:
Must be a registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in Newfoundland and Labrador in good standing.
A team player with excellent communication skills who thrives in a collaborative setting.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in patients
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address patients' needs
- Provide therapy sessions to improve speech, language, communication, and swallowing skills
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary
- Educate patients and their families on strategies to enhance communication and swallowing abilities
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in the field of speech-language pathology
Skills:
- Strong patient care skills, with the ability to provide compassionate and effective therapy
- Experience in acute care settings, working with patients who have experienced medical conditions or injuries that affect speech and swallowing
- Knowledge of pediatric speech-language pathology, including assessment and treatment techniques for children with communication disorders
- Familiarity with hospital protocols and procedures for delivering speech-language pathology services
- Proficient in case management, including coordinating care with other healthcare professionals and ensuring continuity of treatment
- Understanding of medical terminology relevant to speech-language pathology
