Role Overview
We are expanding our Specification Sales team. The Specification Sales Representative is responsible for developing and managing relationships with key design and construction clients while identifying new project opportunities. You represent ILS and our manufacturers, provide technical expertise, and work with clients to create project-specific lighting and control solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, designers, engineers, developers, and design-build contractors
Develop and execute a territory sales strategy to grow the specification pipeline
Present lighting and controls solutions through meetings, presentations, and product demonstrations
Support clients with technical product information, application guidance, and specification writing
Identify alternatives that meet design intent and project constraints
Coordinate with manufacturers to gather pricing, budget numbers, and project data
Host training sessions, lunch and learns, and new product introductions
Stay current on new products, technologies, controls platforms, and industry codes
Attend trade shows, industry events, and project meetings as required
What You Bring
Minimum five years of experience in the lighting industry
Two to three years in technical or specification-driven sales
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Ability to build trust quickly and maintain long-standing client relationships
Highly organized, self-directed, and accountable for results
Post-secondary education in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field
Knowledge of ASHRAE, NECB, and local codes is an asset
IES courses, LC, LEED, RID, RAIC, or similar accreditations are an advantage
Eligible to work in Canada
