Compensation Pay Range:$41.85-$51.77:Please Note: If you are a current CHEO employee with access to Workday, please apply to this posting via the Workday application as an internal applicant using the Jobs Hub.To successfully apply for this position, please submit your application by 11:59 pm the day before the advertised closing date in the posting to ensure your application is received.POSITION SUMMARYThe successful incumbent will:Perform cardiac ultrasound studies including portable studies off-unitOperate complex ultrasound equipment with a complete understanding of the physical principles of the ultrasound and its bio-effectsConsult with referring Cardiologists regarding the appropriate ultrasound procedureAssess and prepare patients for procedures; continuously assessing their condition throughout the procedureObtain images and recognize abnormalities and correlate information with clinical patient dataPerform 2-dimensional, m-mode, color and spectral Doppler flow studies selecting relevant echocardiographic data; making calculations to obtain diagnostic informationCollate 2-dimensional image information obtained on an on-going basis throughout the study, create a 3-dimensional model and uses this to obtain optimal image and physiological information which is then given to a cardiologistProvide written sonographer preliminary technical impressions within PACs system (picture archiving and communication system)Assist, supervise and teach technical skills to students in training and sonographers, depending on level of expertiseInput study information into digital echo systemEngage in professional development activities and keep up-to-date in the field of ultrasound and pediatric cardiologyEstablish and maintain good working relations and rapport with all members of the health care team, patients and familiesQUALIFICATIONSPolice Record Check (PRC) (Essential)Current registration with the ARDMS (Essential)Active member of CSDMS (Essential)Current registration in BCLS (Preferred)Two (2) years of clinical experience in scanning, preferably in Pediatric Echocardiography (Essential)Fetal Echo experience (Preferred)Detailed knowledge of normal cardiovascular anatomy and physiology and knowledge of congenital cardiac defects (Essential)Ability to work autonomously, as well as within a multidisciplinary team (Essential)Demonstrated strong math, communication and problem solving skills (Essential)Computer literacy and data entry skills (Essential)Bilingual (French/English) (Essential)
