Purpose:
The Specialty Program Manager -Dermatology/Infectious Disease (SPM) plays a critical role in supporting dermatology and infectious disease patients prescribed specialty therapies. The SPM acts as the primary liaison between patients, dermatologists, infectious disease specialists, specialty pharmacies, insurance providers, and Patient Support Programs to ensure timely access to treatment and adherence to therapy. This role requires clinical experience and knowledge, administrative coordination, and compassionate patient support.

Job Responsibilities:
Patient Management & Support
Guide patients through the treatment's initiation process including education about their condition, treatment options, administration, and follow-up.
Provide outreach and ongoing support to patients to promote adherence and answer questions related to therapy logistics.
Provide health teaching on diagnosis and disease state.
Coordinate and monitor patient progress, including follow-ups, lab work, and treatment outcomes.
Authorization & Coverage Navigation
Facilitate prior authorizations, insurance benefit investigations, and coordination with drug manufacturer, Patient Support Programs.
Track approval status, renewal timelines, and handle rejections or appeals as needed.
Ensure documentation is complete and accurate for coverage applications.
Liaison & Communication
Communicate with physicians, nurses, pharmacies, and third-party providers to ensure seamless processes.
Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for treatment-related questions for both patients and clinical staff.
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in EMR systems (Accuro experience is an asset).
Track and report on specialty program metrics such as time to approval, adherence rates, and patient outcomes.
Manage reminder systems for renewals, monitoring, and follow-up visits.
Qualifications:
Degree in Nursing, or related healthcare field
Minimum 5 years of experience in dermatology and infectious disease
Fibroscan experience preferred
Strong understanding of specialty medications
Experience navigating insurance and prior authorization processes
Comfortable working with at risk populations including the unhoused
