Department Overview

TDSI Accounting, within the Chief Accountant\'s group, is responsible for completing the Accounting and Financial & Regulatory Reporting functions for the TD Securities Inc. (TDSI) Legal Entity. TDSI is the institutional broker-dealer arm of TD Bank, and is heavily regulated by IIROC (The Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada).

Job Requirements

  • Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel (i.e. advanced formulae, vlookup and pivot table) is a must.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Knowledge of financial instruments (equities, fixed income products, derivatives).
  • Detail-oriented with proven analytical capability.
  • Clearly demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) and strong interpersonal skills. Able to work efficiently with our business partners.
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills. Able to manage multiple deadlines within a highly demanding environment.
  • Ability to effectively handle and respond to various ad hoc requests.
  • Excellent team player
Education and Accreditation
  • University education is required
  • Degree in finance or accounting preferred

To conduct a range of financial analysis and provide operational support as it relates to TD Securities Funding and Institutional Equities trading desks:
  • Prepare TDSI daily funding requirements by calculating the funds available to be loaned out or needed to be borrowed from TD Bank. Compile daily funding balances for Structured Finance (EQD) and Credit Structured Group (CSG). Request funding via TD Bank funding desk.
  • Reconcile daily funding settlement for TDSI (including Structured Finance and Credit Structured Group) with TD Waterhouse.
  • Reconcile funding settlement with Structured Finance against ISM.
  • Responsible for the accounting of foreign currency deals (GBP, EUR, etc), including funding request, interest tracking, settlement and accounting journals.
  • Calculate the monthly interest owed to or from TD Waterhouse on overnight settled balances.
  • Provide vacation coverage for other functions such as FX PnL reporting etc.
