The incumbent will be responsible for creating video and digital content and supporting the post-production and delivery of audio-visual services in support of Canadian Red Cross strategic and operational goals for domestic and international operations. This position will play a key role in the conceptualization, production, post-production and delivery of digital visual content produced by the AV Unit. Your main responsibilities will be: Video Editing, Post-Production, Production Support and Disaster Communications.
In this role, you will:

  • Support the Post-Production Lead and Manager, AV Unit in establishing timelines for the post-production phase of productions (editorial planning meetings, priorities, and timelines for AV unit)
  • Lead and coordinate a project from inception to delivery, serving as the main interface between both internal and external clients, and the AV Unit.
  • Support the Post-Production Lead in establishing post-production workflows and in logging metadata, cataloguing raw footage, data and file management, transcoding of proxies, rendering media.
  • Support the Post-Production Lead in the management of the NAS and all recording media including SSDs, CFExpress and SD memory cards.
  • Produce deliverables from scripts, screenplays, or production outlines
  • Support the Manager, AV Unit in the conceptualization of projects, storyboarding, location scouting, identifying subjects and script writing.
  • Provide technical assistance during production, including conducting interviews and managing talent, camera operation, lighting setup, and on-the-ground logistics.
  • Assist during film shoots, livestreams and other productions, ensuring adherence to established timelines and budgets.
  • Support the Post-Production Lead and accounting in project costing and establishing budgets, reviewing expenses and reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal services including but not limited to translation, finance, travel health, security and risk.
  • Support in the hiring of external vendors and sub-contractors, redaction of TORs, RFPs, and external subcontractors, vendors and suppliers, (travel agencies, craft service providers, equipment rental agencies, venue and location coordinators)
  • General administrative work in support of procurement, travel logistics, project reporting, and financial accounting.
  • Provide ongoing audio-visual support and guidance during international or domestic disasters or fundraising appeals and for response milestones and anniversaries.

What we are looking for:
  • Minimum post-secondary education in a related field, with 1 to 3 years experience in post-production.
  • Digital content production or management experience, producing informational and visual content.
  • Computer skills: Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, AfterEffects, Audition, and Adobe Creative Suite software, designing Motion Graphics and 2D Animation.
  • Experience in research, journalism, marketing and/or publishing is an asset.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the video production pipeline. (strong capacities in timing, Storytelling, Photography and post production)
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Red Cross, the Red Cross Movement and its mandate.
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, and collaborate in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a balance of confidence, accountability, maturity, professionalism and high energy.
  • First Aid certification, or willingness to take training
  • Fluency in French and English is required.

  • Most of the work is performed in a clean and comfortable environment. Conveniently located in the heart of the city of Ottawa with excellent access to public transportation, shopping, and restaurants.

  • Ability to work non-traditional hours on short notice
  • Ability to complete and maintain a thorough medical screening and receive medical clearance prior to departure in the field

  • Ability to work non-traditional and longer hours often on short notice especially during times of emergency response.
  • Domestic and international travel is required.
