Au sein de l\'\xc3\xa9quipe Application eXpertise and Electrical Simulation (AXES), le candidat s\xc3\xa9lectionn\xc3\xa9 jouera un r\xc3\xb4le cl\xc3\xa9 dans les projets de simulation, de mod\xc3\xa9lisation et de contr\xc3\xb4le des syst\xc3\xa8mes \xc3\xa9lectriques. Il contribuera \xc3\xa0 la mod\xc3\xa9lisation dans les domaines des ressources bas\xc3\xa9es sur les onduleurs, des micro-r\xc3\xa9seaux et de la production distribu\xc3\xa9e.
Le candidat s\xc3\xa9lectionn\xc3\xa9 aura la capacit\xc3\xa9 de tirer parti de son expertise en \xc3\xa9lectronique de puissance et en syst\xc3\xa8mes de contr\xc3\xb4le, pour aborder des projets impliquant des simulations de type "hardware-in-the-loop" et "power-hardware-in-the-loop". Le candidat d\xc3\xa9veloppera et testera des mod\xc3\xa8les dans le logiciel de simulation OPAL-RT bas\xc3\xa9 sur un CPU et un FPGA.
T\xc3\xa2ches principales :

  • Mod\xc3\xa9lisation et simulation de convertisseurs et de contr\xc3\xb4leurs d\'\xc3\xa9lectroniques de puissance dans les domaines applicatifs des ressources \xc3\xa0 base d\'onduleurs (IBR), des ressources \xc3\xa9nerg\xc3\xa9tiques distribu\xc3\xa9es (syst\xc3\xa8mes de production PV, syst\xc3\xa8mes de stockage d\'\xc3\xa9nergie par batterie, syst\xc3\xa8mes de production par \xc3\xa9olienne, g\xc3\xa9n\xc3\xa9rateurs diesel, etc.), des micro-r\xc3\xa9seaux. D\xc3\xa9velopper des mod\xc3\xa8les math\xc3\xa9matiques de IBR adapt\xc3\xa9s \xc3\xa0 la simulation en temps r\xc3\xa9el \xc3\xa0 l\'aide de simulateurs bas\xc3\xa9s sur des CPU ou des FPGA.
  • Participer activement aux diff\xc3\xa9rentes \xc3\xa9tapes du cycle de vie d\'un projet, de l\'estimation \xc3\xa0 l\'ex\xc3\xa9cution, en passant par la validation et la documentation.
  • Participer au d\xc3\xa9veloppement et \xc3\xa0 l\'am\xc3\xa9lioration des biblioth\xc3\xa8ques de mod\xc3\xa8les d\'OPAL-RT.
  • Proposer des solutions innovantes pour relever les d\xc3\xa9fis li\xc3\xa9s aux simulations power hardware-in-the-loop en temps r\xc3\xa9el (PHIL) et hardware in the loop (HIL). Pr\xc3\xa9parer des articles techniques.


Exigences :
  • Formation : Ma\xc3\xaetrise ou Doctorat en g\xc3\xa9nie \xc3\xa9lectrique.
  • Exp\xc3\xa9rience : Maitrise : 4+ ans ou Ph.D. : 0-2 ans. Plus de 3 ans dans la mod\xc3\xa9lisation et la simulation EMT avanc\xc3\xa9e de syst\xc3\xa8mes d\'\xc3\xa9nergie renouvelable, y compris les onduleurs de contr\xc3\xb4le connect\xc3\xa9s au r\xc3\xa9seau ou aux syst\xc3\xa8mes d\'\xc3\xa9nergie insulaires.
  • Connaissances requises : Bonne compr\xc3\xa9hension de l\'int\xc3\xa9gration des IBR sur les r\xc3\xa9seaux \xc3\xa9lectriques et des contr\xc3\xb4les associ\xc3\xa9s n\xc3\xa9cessaires \xc3\xa0 l\'interfa\xc3\xa7age de diverses ressources \xc3\xa9nerg\xc3\xa9tiques au syst\xc3\xa8me \xc3\xa9lectrique. Connaissance des normes r\xc3\xa9gissant l\'int\xc3\xa9gration des \xc3\xa9nergies renouvelables aux r\xc3\xa9seaux \xc3\xa9lectriques (IEEE P2800, 1547, etc.) et des micro-r\xc3\xa9seaux (IEEE 2030.7, 2030.8, etc.). Il est essentiel que le candidat ait une bonne ma\xc3\xaetrise des concepts de simulation et de mod\xc3\xa9lisation. Connaissance de la mod\xc3\xa9lisation des ressources \xc3\xa9nerg\xc3\xa9tiques telles que les panneaux solaires photovolta\xc3\xafques, les batteries, les \xc3\xa9oliennes. Bonne exp\xc3\xa9rience des outils de simulation tels que MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Atouts importants : Exp\xc3\xa9rience dans le test d\'\xc3\xa9quipements \xc3\xa9lectriques basse ou moyenne tension pour les applications r\xc3\xa9seau (onduleurs, g\xc3\xa9n\xc3\xa9rateurs, etc.) . Exp\xc3\xa9rience dans le contr\xc3\xb4le et/ou le d\xc3\xa9veloppement de mod\xc3\xa8les sur FPGAs/ DSPs, notamment en utilisant Xilinx System Generator (XSG) ou des outils similaires. Achievements and stimulating challenges:
As part of the Application eXpertise and Electrical Simulation (AXES) team, the selected candidate will play a key role in projects involving simulation, modeling, and control of power systems. They will contribute towards modeling in the areas of inverter-based resources, microgrids, and distributed generation.
The selected candidate will have the ability to leverage their expertise of power electronics and control systems, to address projects involving hardware-in-the-loop and power-hardware-in-the-loop simulations. The candidate will develop and test models in CPU-based and FPGA-based simulation software of OPAL-RT.
Main Duties:
  • Model and simulate power electronics converters and controllers in the application areas of inverter-based resources (IBR), distributed energy resources (PV generation systems, battery energy storage systems, wind generation systems, diesel generators, etc.), microgrids. Develop mathematical models of IBR suitable for real-time simulation using CPU or FPGA based simulators.
  • Actively participate in the various stages of the project life cycle, from estimation to execution, including validation and documentation.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of OPAL-RT model libraries.
  • Propose innovative solutions to challenges related to power hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) and hardware in the loop (HIL) simulations. Prepare technical papers.

Requirements:
  • Education: Master\'s or PhD in electrical engineering.
  • Required Knowledge: Strong understanding of the integration of IBRs into power grids and the associated controls required to interface various energy resources to the power system. Knowledge of standards governing the integration of renewables into power systems (IEEE P2800, 1547, etc.) and microgrids (IEEE 2030.7, 2030.8, etc.). It is essential that the candidate has a good grasp of simulation and modeling concepts. Knowledge of modeling of energy resources such as solar photovoltaic panels, batteries, wind turbines. Good experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Required skills: Autonomy, attention to detail, versatility, resourcefulness, analytical skills, curiosity, adaptability, good interpersonal skills, rigor and determination.
  • Language skills: Excellent english skills (oral and written); English is required for technical knowledge related to technical expertise; french courses will be offered to facilitate integration ;
  • Important Assets: Experience in testing low or medium voltage electrical equipment for grid applications (inverters, generators, etc.) . Experience in control and/or model development on FPGAs/DSPs, including using Xilinx System Generator (XSG) or similar tools. Experience with power-in-the-loop (PHIL) hardware simulations and basic understanding of power amplifier operation. Experience with OPAL-RT simulation software (eMEGAsim, RT-Events, eHS, RT-XSG, HYPERSIM), or other real-time simulation tools. Understanding of the basic principles of energy management or power management systems in distribution systems, microgrids, renewable energy farms. Member of the OIQ.
  • Experience: Masters: 4+ years or Ph.D.: 0-2 years. 3+ years in advanced EMT modeling and simulation of renewable energy systems, including grid-connected control inverters or island energy systems.
