We are looking for an Advanced Process Control (APC) Engineer to guide and steward new and innovate changes with Advanced Process Control and real-time optimization (RTO) technologies.In this role you will have the opportunity to lead the rollout of an established pant wide optimization system to Suncorxe2x80x99s downstream sites.Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years of industry experience APC or RTO engineering role, including five years in a refinery or upgrading
  • Experience of developing and maintaining advanced analyzer models
  • Experience in leading technical team discussion such as APC engineers, refinery production control and technology vendors
  • A Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in Engineering (Automation, Process Control, Chemical)
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
Responsibilities:
  • Identify opportunities and apply APC and RTO technologies to achieve improvements in process efficiency, reliability and safety
  • Design, configure and commission APC and dynamic RTO solutions to enable value chain optimization
  • Lead the deployment of an established plant wide optimizer solution in refineries and support the solution during operations phase by working with refinery automation, production control and project and product teams to enhance application functionality
  • Use statistical process control methods to create accurate models that predict, monitor and control operating processes
  • Develop and maintain spectroscopy based advanced analyzer models to determine accurate real-time measurement of process variables
  • Build strong relationships with key customers and suppliers including operations, process engineering, control systems teams, vendors and contractors to advance APC opportunities
  • Facilitate APC competency development and provide coaching and mentorship
Location and other Key Details:
  • This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 xe2x80x93 6th Ave S.W
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Our engineering roles will follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
