POSITION OVERVIEW

The Operational Data Specialist actively manages and supports Data related activities pertaining to all client facing lines of business under the COO (Financing, Wholesale, GTC and Advisory).

The incumbent is responsible to implement the operational standards and processes of Data and business analytics, ensuring clear understanding of the needs of BDC's various groups as well as their impact on business activities. Working closely with Impact+, the Digital Transformation office and the Business Analytics team, the Operational Data Specialist will support the Director in ensuring the needs of the business and other stakeholders (i.e. marketing, risk, finance) from an operational Data point of view are brought forward. The role will also be a key point of contact to Information Technology Business Solution Delivery, AI CoE, Data Governance, Information Management, InfoSec and Business Process groups and work in close collaboration to achieve common goals.

The Operational Data Specialist in collaboration with team members, provides expertise working across all lines of business, to plan, develop and maintain the technological tools to support operational Data and business analytics activities while ensuring Data quality, governance and stewardship are maintained.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

Act as a Data COO Operations representative in projects relating to enhancement to frontline programs, processes and offerings ensuring optimal Data capture, quality and utilization.

Lead and be the key resource in the areas of Data analysis, governance, stewardship to design, implement and manage the Data framework and models to support all operations Data needs through reporting, dashboarding and analysis.

Assist and contributes to the COO's Data ownership and Stewardship activities by:

Implementing and overseeing the Data Activities of the COO Data domains.

Supporting the Data user community.

Overseeing Data throughout the entire Data Life Cycle as well as collecting and evaluating Data issues.

Identifying critical Data for the COO Data domains and by implementing metadata management standards.

Establishing and implementing Data governance requirements, Data quality and business terms definitions and Data controls pertaining to the COO Data domains

Ensuring application of the required retention periods defined by the Information Management team, regarding Data life cycle management across acquisition, storage / provisioning, usage / sharing, and retention / disposition / archiving for their respective departments.

Applying corrective actions to address Data quality deviations.

Reporting Data-related requests and issues to the Data Steward and Data Owner to be presented to the Data Stewardship Council.

Working with the Data Owner, Steward and the Data Custodians to ensure that requirements are properly implemented across all IT systems hosting critical Data.

Participate as an SME when required in the development and delivery of the BI Modernization project representing all COO business lines.

As part of BDC's loan activities, design, implement and manage the Data framework and models to support operations Data needs through reporting, dashboarding and analysis.

Liaise with the Enterprise Data Architects, Business Process and IT Delivery to understand the evolving roadmap, the integration of new Data sources, services and or systems, upgrades and changes to current systems and Databases and evaluate impact of changes on operations.

Identify and gather management information and business intelligence from various Databases and develop means to extract pertinent information and insight to monitor critical success and risk factors related to COO portfolio.

Identify new reporting Data elements required, optimize Data ingestion to improve availability, quality of information and performance (refresh and frequency).

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor's degree in information technology, mathematics, business analytics, finance, financial engineering

Relevant experience of 7-10 years, including 5-7 years in Data business analytics and/or artificial intelligence

Knowledge of SQL, PowerBI, Excel, Python, Azure a must. Machine Learning techniques are an asset

Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and to manage ambiguous situations and quickly

Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, in French and English
