:Vancouver Shipyards (VSY) requires an engineer/technologist in the Technical Authority Department for ship design/build projects. The candidate will be an experienced professional with a relevant marine related background and 5+ years of experience in delivering complex ship designs from concept through to delivery.The role provides technical and general support to a programs Chief Engineer by undertaking tasks as directed. This role requires an individual with a broad understanding of class and regulatory requirements and is to be well versed in the end-to-end design and build process. An overall understanding and appreciation of whole ship design and integration challenges and trade-offs is essential.The role is both externally and internally facing, with regular communications expected with the customer, regulators, subcontractors and the wider VSY team, and as such the role requires an effective communicator.Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton in North Vancouver.What you\'ll do

  • Support the Chief Engineer in conducting design maturity reviews.
  • Support the Chief Engineer in identifying and managing to closure the technical risks for each project.
  • Support the Chief Engineer in managing class appraisal of design products.
  • Support the Chief Engineer in achieving timely requirement\'s development, validation and verification.
  • Develop processes and conduct design/model reviews at the discretion of the Chief Engineer and Technical Authority.
  • To represent the Technical Authority and Chief Engineer, and to complete tasks as assigned.
What you\'ll bring
  • Bachelor\'s Degree or Diploma of Technology in a relevant Engineering or Naval Architecture discipline.
  • Professional Engineer or Technologist with a recognized, accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of post-secondary progressively senior experience in engineering, with knowledge of ship/maritime systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with a diversely integrated project team is considered an asset.
  • Must hold or be eligible to attain Reliability Security Clearance or a higher level of Security Clearance as required.

The estimated salary for this position is $94,500 - $115,500. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate\'s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company\'s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
