Position Overview
Spark is currently recruiting a full-time permanent Specialist, Health & Safety. The Specialist, Health &
Safety reports directly to the Manager, Health & Safety and Operations. The Specialist, Health & Safety
role is split 80% on Health and Safety and 20% on Security responsibilities. The focus of this role is to
promote safe work practices with the objective of minimizing accidents, Injuries and environmental
damages as well as manage, maintain and coordinate Health and Safety programs. Other duties include
scheduling of the in-house security team hours and acting as a liaison for the Security team to the
Manager, Health & Safety and Operations.

Key Responsibilities \xef\x82\xb7 Develop, maintain and administer the Health and Safety program and policy as the Health and
Safety Committee (HSC) employer co-chair in collaboration with the HSC; \xef\x82\xb7 Schedule training programs for re-certification or training, as identified by the HSC. Ensure
proper and sufficient safety equipment is available to all employees; \xef\x82\xb7 Create and update Health & Safety budgets and provide monthly budget reports; \xef\x82\xb7 Relay Health & Safety information to new staff; \xef\x82\xb7 Investigate accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of accidents; \xef\x82\xb7 Become First Aid Trainer certified and organize and administer first aid training. \xef\x82\xb7 Maintain and coordinate Emergency Response Plan; \xef\x82\xb7 Liaise with Calgary Fire Department to ensure fire code compliance. Coordinate fire drill 2 times
a year; \xef\x82\xb7 Maintain and administer the WHMIS and SDS program; \xef\x82\xb7 Achieve COR certification and maintain and prepare for yearly audits; \xef\x82\xb7 Work closely with Directors, Managers and Contractors to ensure staff and workers comply with
safety legislation while onsite or on company time; \xef\x82\xb7 Be point of contact for the organization. Provide information to employees on health and safety; \xef\x82\xb7 Diligently implement and enforce the safety protocols; \xef\x82\xb7 Schedule security team hours weekly;

2 \xef\x82\xb7 Schedule contract security for sick or vacation days taken by the team and for after hour events
that Spark will host; \xef\x82\xb7 Be a point of contact liaison for the security team\xe2\x80\x99s questions and concerns for the Manager,
Health & Safety and Operations; \xef\x82\xb7 Create and update Security budgets and provide monthly budget reports; \xef\x82\xb7 Will be responsible to manage intrusion and fire monitoring call out from monitoring company
during all hours; (estimated after hours calls 6-8 per year) \xef\x82\xb7 Ensure personal and team activities are aligned with business and strategic goals of Spark as a
whole; \xef\x82\xb7 Model high performance, flexibility and kindness in a rapidly changing growth environment; \xef\x82\xb7 Other duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications & Knowledge \xef\x82\xb7 A minimum of 5 years experience or expertise in relevant Health and Safety, in construction or
building operations. \xef\x82\xb7 A solid understanding of OH&S codes and fire code; \xef\x82\xb7 First Aid Trainer considered and asset; \xef\x82\xb7 Fluency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and ability to use
most platforms. \xef\x82\xb7 Strong ethics and ability to manage confidential data if required. \xef\x82\xb7 A proven track record of adding value to an organization\xe2\x80\x99s culture and initiatives. \xef\x82\xb7 A positive attitude! \xef\x82\xb7 Desire to work on a high performing team with a continuous upgrading culture to achieve high
impact results. Fluidity and a desire to work hard and grow are essential. \xef\x82\xb7 A high degree of creativity with the ability to leave your ego at the door. \xef\x82\xb7 Willingness to learn and adapt to change. \xef\x82\xb7 A clear police check is required.
