About the TalentED Greater Calgary Project
The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services. TalentED Greater Calgary will generate work-based learning opportunities for youth ages 18-24 by engaging small to medium-sized businesses and non-profits across the greater Calgary region. This project will increase employer engagement with youth and apply an innovative and collaborative approach.
Job Summary
The
Specialist, Employer Engagement
will collaborate with potential employers to highlight the benefits of hiring youth for work-based learning (WBL) opportunities. This role understands the challenges and needs of organizations, offering guidance on engaging youth and available funding supports. Serving as the primary contact for employers with questions about WBL, the Specialist supports them throughout the entire recruitment and placement process. Ultimately, the Specialist enhances employer understanding of how WBL can address their talent pipeline needs.
This is a full-time contract position with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities
Employer support
Reach out to prospective employers and attend relevant industry events to raise awareness about TalentED Greater Calgary, sell the benefits of hiring youth, and generate leads for WBL opportunities.
Regularly interact with hiring managers within various SMEs and non-profits to identify how WBL can meet their talent pipeline needs.
Maintain relationships with the career services/WBL teams at post-secondary institutions to create an aligned employer engagement support network across the city.
Communicate to employers about various resources such as job description templates, project templates, and wage subsidy/funding for WBL and support them in leveraging these resources.
Ensure employer engagement is inclusive and responsive to the needs of marginalized or underrepresented groups throughout interactions with employers and stakeholders.
Placement Coordination
Analyze information from community employment centres and post-secondary institutions (PSIs) on program offerings and youth to be able to advise on effective placement strategies.
Review requests from employers on potential talent needs and work with them to align to potential youth/programs.
Triage challenges or concerns from employers and work with TalentED Secretariat and stakeholders to address concerns.
Training and Resources
Prepare and deliver workshops and AI training for employers to streamline recruitment, onboarding, and supervision of youth.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify concerns or areas of improvement for developed tools and templates.
Collect feedback from employers on tools and templates to determine areas for continuous improvement.
Work with team to implement improvements to tools and templates.
Data Collection
Document employer interactions in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to maintain an accurate record for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting.
Ensure relevant information is included in the WBL platform and other relevant data tracking tools
by following up with employers for missing details, as needed. Maintain files associated with various employers for WBL.
Support with coordination of events as it relates to engaging employers and increasing WBL placements; collect attendance and employer feedback from events to support project goals.

Education
Post-secondary degree/diploma in relevant field such as business administration, human resources
CPHR designation would be considered an asset
Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in business development, human resources, career development, consulting, or stakeholder engagement.
Previous experience supporting employers and/or job seekers would be considered an asset
Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Key Skills and Competencies
Business development and relationship management. Skilled in outreach and maintaining strong connections with employers and stakeholders, with an understanding of labour market dynamics and equity practices.
Customer service mindset.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to pitch value, relay information clearly, and support diverse audiences.
Experienced in managing employer accounts and supporting the adoption of new processes and technologies.
Ability to identify root causes and develop effective solutions to operational and stakeholder challenges.
Comfortable with shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy in data reporting and workflow optimization.
Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, Monday.com, and generative AI.
